Can I ask you all a question?:D

Some time ago I read a fanfic about mermaids and there was a tail description, and I have been drawing that tail a few times,
but everytime I get stuck at drawing the fluke, I have no idea how it should look, even with the description I have no idea what to draw. :confused:
Here’s the description:

‘The fluke was wide, almost twice my shoulder length.
It was ragged at the end of the actual fin,
and two bony supports held up the thinner fluke in between.’

Can you help me by drawing your interpretations of this fluke and show/send me your designs here?
(I will not copy them exactly, but only take inspiration from them)

The only thing that comes to my mind is something like this, but this it too simple and I don't like it.

Or the clssic H2O look, with I really like, but I'm not sure if I want to be yet another person 'copying' H2O in my tail.
(Even tough my fabric tail is going to have a fluke a bit like the H2O fluke)

I'm thinking a bit of thinner fluke inbetween, like you can see on a batwing.

Oh, thats fast! They look interesting!
They made me think of an idea of modifying Ariels fluke a bit. ;)

I just sketched something sloppy together, it's hard to do symmetrical things with a touchpad, haha ;)
Yeah I was thinking something inspired by Ariel could work too!

Yeah, symmetry is hard, even when I'm drawning on paper.
But I have figured out a way to be able to draw symmetrical!
I also used it to draw all the designs in my 'Tails all year round' thread.
(That design pile has grown to 55 design over the last 3 years :))

Here ya go! I made them based on the description, and added coloring for a swamp dwelling mer. More earth tones. One with black throughout and one without. I also added some side fins. :)

Colors I like are lightblue, greyblue, turquoise, purple and white/silver. (But everything but pink is fine)
Something inspired by me would be cool, since a tail is acting as a bodypart.

I don't like harsh color blocks on tails, or stripes. Spots are lovely. I love space/stars/nightskies.
(Hope I don't sound to challenging, heh ;) )

I'm on it! No, not at all! The more detail, the better. So is there a particular gemstone, fish, pattern, or flower that you really like? Also, what tail makers are your favorites so I know what style of tail you like best? :)

Hope I'm not posting too much! I may end up making another thread for my own tail designs 'cause I just love making them! Here are two I did today inspired by my two most favorite aquatic Pokemon. Thank you, BriannaPixieDee and Mermaid Neri Elvina for the idea to make them! I can't wait to see your Milotic designs as well!! Hope this makes some Pokefans happy~ <3

My favorite gemstone is aquamarine <: (And not because of the movie)

The fluke styles I like most are loreena/calypso from Finfolk, Merbellas Angler and Mertailors Pirate and Leaf.
I don't care much for royal blue, I like the toned down versions of blue more. :)
