^^ Agreed. Since they're more fish-like than human, I would imagine fins (not decorative, more for propulsion or something) or maybe a bit of webbing.

A bit of webbing, at the very least. If they were to act anything like humans, they would use their hands for the same purposes we do. However fingers like ours would porbably hinder their swimming style, so yes, they'd likely be fin-like or heavily webbed. :)
HAHA nope ;p i think sailor cosmos is white haired too yes? and sailor moon's original mother?Quote:
Drucilla: I'm not alone out here?! :jawdrop: :P
i'm sure there were more people drucilla... like queen beryl, malachite, ... those two green aliens with blue and pink hair ... and emerald, sapphire, prince diamond, helios (pegasus), prisma, catzi, rubeus...
but this isnt a sailormoon forum haha xD
Wow! That's the idea I've had for the longest time about my mer-form. I've always visualized being a mer with a scaled or black skin, that went all the way over my whole body, with a streamlined head adapted for speed in the water.
Maybe it's because dolphins and orcas and porpoises are such charismatic animals and designed completely to be effective in the water that I've visualized being completely water-adapted.
Belugh! This sums up what I meant about what I dislike about some portrayals of mermaids in pop culture! Lol
I can understand why people might like this style but to me it just seems a bit...... Immature in nature (and maybe that's some mers on here thing) I like the sultry dangerous mers, like in the film POTC:OST
Anyway just saying my tastes that's all :/
I imagine mermaids as dangerous, more like a creature, though appearance and human characteristics would differ depending on location and such. I love the idea of using clicks and hisses to communicate, as well as having really sharp teeth and webbed fingers.
can i like ALL of them? can i do that? is it a crime if i wanna be a bubblegum mermaid and a predatory hunter/gatherer mermaid at the same time? is there a mer that exists?? ;__;
my mermaid-beliefs are that of fae. They are nonhuman, but they can speak english. if you look up irish merrow, thats what i think theyre like :)
FIGHTING EVIL BY MOONLIGHT, WINNING LOVE BY DAYLIGHT, NEVER RUNNING FROM A REAL FIIIIGHT~~~
Nomnomnomnom.
I'm of the opinion that it's unlikely mermaids would be mammals. After all, mammals breathe air, and as such you'd think we would have seen them by now!
So I think they'd be fish, which would mean they likely wouldn't look very humanoid. Maybe some sort of eel-like creature with arm-like appendages, something like these guys but more developed - kind of like an evolved axolotl I guess!
They'd probably share few physiological features with humans since they'd be living deep underwater, and the human body shape just isn't designed for that sort of thing.
But, who knows! There's so much of the ocean we know nothing about, and we're discovering more and more every day!
There comes a point though in which they'd be so different from us that they couldn't be called mermaids anymore, just fish with a couple of humanoid characteristics. Where's the fun in that?
