This is AMAZING. How did I miss this thread? Its sooooo pretty. Well done!
Thank you Sea Mage, Olivia, Trident True and Sienna Star!
So here's a video of the Hybrid Tail. It's been a fun project. I have yet to swim in it but hope to soon! I may add a couple small heel fins later but until then...
So much sparkly!!!!! :swoon: The body of the tail doesn't look like fabric at all... it looks like an actual silicone tail! Can't wait to see pics/videos of you swimming in it!
Wow Keiris, you've done a masterful job on this tail... I can't wait to see how it looks on you, in the water.
:swoon:I just fell in love with sparkles all over again! Your tail is soooo amazingly beautiful! Like all of my favorite colors are in this tail and they are blended so beautifully together...You really have created a masterpiece!
May I ask how much it cost you to make?
Woo! Sparkles anywhere you look :D
Love the colors of the tail and how the fluke looks, really pretty :D
I LOVE IT!!
Great job Keiris! :hail:

You really raised the bar, Keiris! Bravo!

Let's see it in action!
I completely agree with everyone! The sparkles and the details are amazing. It's truly an incredible hybrid tail !
Now that. Is. Awesome. Fullstop.
Oh my gosh, I'm in love! Is it very heavy?

Wow, Keiris! The color saturation and sparkle of this tail is just amazing!
super! now model it for us! we want to see it swimming
I'm still just in total awe at that smooth finish! It's unlike anything I've seen yet. Stunning and so lifelike, almost like an amazing fantastic amphibious creature!!! wait...
That is absolutely stunning. This tail has me reconsidering the use of silicone!
I love how it glistens! Totally giving me courage to go forward with my hybrid plans. :D
Great job on the tail!
Cant wait to see some pics of it in the water
:jawdrop: Omigoshness Keiris that is freakin STUNNING!!!! All of the sparkle and shine! I am going to have to go back through and read everything and see if I think I can figure out how to make one of these to hold me over until I have enough money for my PearlieMae tail! Although I know I will never be able to make it as pretty as yours!
THAT was amazing!!! Keiris, that is such a gorgeous tail... the iridescent glow?!? It's like the slightest of layers giving it such great depth of character. Beautiful! And you made it so quickly. I am abundantly impressed!!! Please go for a swim in it ASAP.
The colors are amazing!!!!
So what kind of silicone did you use, and did you just brush it onto the body?
How didn't I see this thread! You've done a fantastic job- the shaping/colors/shimmer/iridescence/see-through qualities of it is CRAZY!! wow
I'm so proud of you Keiris! I just wanna hug you right now!
I'll take that!!! Lorelei, I owe you a great debt. If it wasn't for your help and encouragement years ago when we were creating our first silicone tails, I would have just gotten discouraged and given up back then. THANK YOU! ! ! You have always been generous with your time and talent. I am just THRILLED that you finally have your dream tail and can't wait to see you swim in it! Hopefully, one day...in person! :mermaid kiss:(they really need to add a male version of that gif)
it looks GORGEOUS!
did you use an airbrush to apply the silicone to the body? was the body made of spandex orrr...?
Wow! Thank you SO MUCH for the excitement and the kind words, you guys! I really appreciate it and I VALUE each of you and your opinions. I wish that every single one of you were here to swim with me in this! I will try to get a few pics or video in it soon. (After I double up on my workout :p).
To answer a few questions;
Alea, I am unsure of the total cost of this as I had all the materials except the fabric tail I used as a base. I will have to do a calculation.
Aine, I used Dragonskin 10 Medium silicone, Monster Clay, and Shell Shock.
Seraphina, this tail is MUCH lighter than a full silicone tail. That was the main reason I created it. I wanted something more streamline for pool swimming that was easy to pack and get in and out of.
what monofin is in the tail? I think I'm going to bug myself about not fixing up my fabric tail forever now.
Been lurking on this thread for awhile since I have hybrid tail ideas in the works also. But I just wanted to add what a stunning job you've done Keiris! A true work of art and the blended waist belt is a brilliantly innovative idea.
Wow! The sparkles are AMAZING! It looked sort of like you had a giant blue-green-purple fish laying on the floor! Good job!
Awwww, you are so sweet! I'm so glad I was able to help you back then and see what you have been able to accomplish since! You've definitely grown!Quote:

And who knows, I may be in Florida sometime soon!
I'm a little late to the party but, wow! That tail is amazing Keiris!:swoon:
Hi! This has the standard monofin that came with the tail. Since this was an experimental hybrid tail, in order to save time sewing a full body I tried Seavanna's method as I said at the beginning of my thread. So, definitely not the propulsion I get with my Competitor. I didn't need all that in a pool that's only 7 feet deep. :)
This tail is a triumph. If you decide to sell them, I am super interested!! I love my silicone tail, but it is a monster!
Leina, Anna, and Aika, Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it! The blended waistband was a challenge to get the right skin shade but I am happy with how it turned out and hope to create a few more for mers in the future.
Lorelei, Florida will ALWAYS welcome a FIERCE mermaid like you! Swim on down! xoxo
