I'm also working on my son's merboy worbla armor shoulder pauldron. It should be very "organic armor" like for a lack of a description. I think I'm rather crafting ADHD.

Fun!
You think it's salvageabl? Add in resin to fill in the bubbles?

beautiful !!
New scale sheet took much more work filling in the resin with a toothpick. It was worth the extra effort because I can really make a lot more scales. What would have taken most of the day to do is now just one batch. This helps also getting more uniform colors too. I'm very excited.

Yu! I'm keen to see more progress. Have you started sculpting your fluke yet?
I don't have enough clay and I want to get my monofin 1st to make sure it will fit nicely within the fluke design.
I took all the scales off my body cast because most need a top coat and I wasn't happy with the placement.
I should go ahead n get a top coat on what I have n work on placement today. I want more clear iridescent fine glitter to put in the top coat.
I'm also playing with the leftovers top make my seaglass top.

I posted a little video of me pulling out a scale from mold on my mermaid facebook page. If you want to see it. I kept getting errors when trying to post via mobile over here.

I think everything you pinned looks absolutely stunning, but I can understand why you would want to make more inbetween colors.
I think I printed it too small
I need to wait till my monofin arrives
I couldn't find the actual dimensions anywhere :(

Beautiful design.
The ankle part does look a bit small, but that can be changed super easily
I agree about the ankle, but I must say that fluke shape is stunning.
Oh wow.... that looks awesome!!
Still working on placement... Ugh.
I do seem to like this better so far.

I'm going out of town for a week so here's to a last update until I get back n start up again. Hopefully the monofin will arrive before I get back so I can reprint the design n trace onto a poster board n start sculpting. My husband offered to makes scales while I was away but he make odd color combos so I gently declined his kind offer.

Looks fantastic!
Have you started putting them on a body form?
I really like it too, the colors blend into each other well
Love this! The colour combination really is lovely!
And thank you ladies, I appreciate your kind words!

I look forward to seeing more photos!
My husband messaged me that a box arrived today. I'm still in DC visiting family.

This is so exciting!
Yay! That's awesome!
I feel like the monofin will fit so well with your fluke design. They're somewhat similarly shaped.
Absoflukely my plan!
Also Michael's has 40% off sea fans
Orange and gold. I'm going to use the gold in my costume.

Also I found this pretty necklace that will probably get taken apart n used in my costume.

I saw those fans the other day and couldn't figure out how I light use them, so I didn't get them.
Your scales look AMAZING! I love how they look all laid out.
I can't for the life of me figure out why you had such big bubbles in your resin molds, though. If you do nails, that powder and liquid they use to make acrylic nails might fill in those gaps, rather than mix tiny batches of resin...you'll get more of a working time and mix as you go along. BUT test it first to make sure there are no curing issues.

That coral stuff is new to Michael's craft store, I found it last month and bought it all (coupons and teachers discounts!) I started making a top using it. It is so cool! I love it, I hope they make more and in more colors... Mine had some weird white dust on them though (maybe from molding process). I tried washing it and it didn't completely come off. I just said "Oh Well" and incorporated it into my design.
I saw no such sea fans at Micheal's last week! Those jerks, I want some too!
They are hidden in the 'spring flower' section (or at least they were in my store)
Merboy's trident complete
(Unless I add more by then... which I might, lol)

That trident is fantastic. I think I might need to add that to my pinterest board for inspiration :)
