A friend just got a tattoo of a weedy sea-dragon on her foot. Its black and white, but looks pretty classy.

Speaking of weedy seadragons, some just hatched at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. :)

The white sturgeon! Just love those Scute scales!
I've always wanted a koi pond filled with sturgeon. :) Though I'd probably start with sterlets, as they only get four feet long or so.

What an awesome idea! I'd never thought to get a sturgeon as a pet!

"It's a brood! More than 80 weedy sea dragon babies have now hatched and are being cared for behind the scenes. The father, who carried the eggs in a brood pouch under his tail, has been delivering the young in a sea dragon display that’s part of our special exhibition, “The Secret Lives of Seahorses.” " - MBA
That's friggin AWESOME! And they look like amazing little dragons! I LOVE EM!! So COOL. You know, in honor of them, I want to bring up the next fish-a-day as the seahorse (I know the leafy seadragon has already been done, but I thought it'd be nice to do a bunch of different ones-- from the pygmy seahorse to the carribbean with all it's color variants!)

They're amazing! And they're communal animals... they get depressed if alone :(
they are all so beautiful! I want to make tails inspired by them!! *scrambles around house for paper and colored pencils* LOL
Oh ! they are fabulous ! I love seahorses :)
One day, during a dive one of them was wound around my finger, it was so cute!
AWWW! How adorable is that!? <3
i hear that they have a sensor at the tip of their tail that involuntarily wraps around anything they touch... I think that's cute. It's like "oh poop! Darn it.. I can't get my silly tail to let go!!"
It's not involuntary, I work with H. reidi and H. hilonis. You can coax them to grab on, but they don't have to.
I saw these guys the other night at Sea World San Diego and was instantly in love. They are called Blue Striped Snappers and they're one of my favorites.

Coradion-- Cool! Didn't know that. What do you do "working with them?" Like in an aquarium? Or scientific fashion?
Ok... here's my next fish-- I just discovered it... I think it's so striking!
It's the Peppermint Angelfish!

I also wanted to put this next angelfish that I discovered up on here!
It's so fun and sleek looking! :D
It's the Masked Angelfish

It's cool that the male and female look so different!
Not exactly a fish, but while I was on vacation at Topsail Beach in NC I found a piece of sargassum with a small warty sea anemone, about the diameter of a quarter, attached it it. In the process of showing it to my kids, the anemone decided that my hand was a far better anchor. It stayed attached to my hand for around half an hour, before I coaxed it to let go.
