Thanks! I was messing around drawing flukes and I instantly fell in love. I made a duct tape dummy of my legs and will be taking measurements just to be safe. I already have most of the scale sheet done and half of the fluke molded.

I've got a couple designs planned for a fabric-and-sequin tail. One is planned to be my kind of 'day gown', the other my 'evening gown'. I'm already starting on the red one that I've temporarily named "Sea Drake" that I'll post a working thread of shortly showing my development process!

My tail design is kind of simple. I'm going for humpback whale/spotted dolphin (ALL THE SPOTS). Since I'll be using the tail with a matching wetsuit and a Lunocet monofin, the pattern will hopefully serve as a distraction from edges and such.

Thank you! The whole thing is watercolor, actually (except for the black, which is ink). I think it works well for tail designs because it's very easy to build up different shades and blends.

I was torn between something narwhal or whale shark themed....I think Whale Shark won out. Belly will be turquoise fading to dark teal at the sides, and the back will be a deep metallic copper, with the dots/patterns done in the bright turquoise. (Can you tell Turquoise is my favorite color?)
The dorsal fin on the back is going to be a standard sharky fin, but I'm stuck on ideas for the heel fins...I have huge feet that look pretty prominent in a tail, so I'm definitely going to incorporate heel fins one way or another. Maybe another pointed fin, similar to the dorsal...I dunno. I still have time to figure out all the details since I'm going to be saving up for supplies for quite a while.
