Yeah. I'm talking about production time. It was like a month since I put in the order and nailed down all the details.

Another tale of MerNation’s top notch customer service-
I’ve been working with the team to create a scale top to go with my tail. I wanted something that didn’t exactly match my tail (which is super-bright), but would “go” with my tail and looked more natural and flesh-like. They are doing a beautiful design of yellows, neutral golds for blending and my own skintone. It took me a while to find a bra that would fit and a good color swatch, and they kept in touch with me the whole time.
Unfortunately, a small financial emergency came up, so I will not be able to send the bra in or pay the invoice until the beginning of September. I actually forgot to communicate this to MerNation, but I figured that they are so busy anyway that they’d just wait to receive the bra whenever I sent it in. It’s just a little accessory order, right? Wrong. Erin emailed me this morning to make sure the bra hadn’t gotten lost in the mail. Guys. She emailed me about my teeny tiny top order, just to make sure everything was okay. How they have time to keep this up with all the orders they have rolling in I will never know, but I am so grateful!
Janele's Silicone MerNation Tail Review!
(I didn't know how to post this on the Tailmaker Reviews thread so I'll post it here. Photos of me in the tail are hopefully coming soon)
PURPOSE: Besides fulfilling a childhood dream, I'm starting to train for freediving, and I've been practicing with a monofin. I wanted to take the next step by going with a tail. Hopefully I will be ready by the time summer comes!
WHY I CHOSE MERNATION: As some of you may know, I've had a bad experience with Amanda Avery, AKA FinspoMermaidTails, AKA Merberry. This time I decided to do some research on tailmakers, and found that MerNation had stunning reviews—tails were made quickly, customer service was perfect, and craftsmanship was beautiful. I was originally gonna go with Merbellas or Finfolk, but there were no slots open, and I couldn't wait a year for a tail. Plus, I've also heard that MerNation tails were very durable. Since this is my first silicone tail, I knew it would be taking somewhat of a beating from me via putting it on/taking it off, accidentally scratching against concrete, etc.
DESIGN PROCESS:

I had originally wanted very metallic and iridescent, color-shifting tones. As realistic as possible. Erin had explained to me that their metallic paints didn't blend as much as I wanted them to, and for the iridescence/color-shifting, all the colors wouldn't show up. I decided to go without the metallic/color-shifting/iridescent hues, but Erin reassured me that there would still be a metallic sheen.
Unfortunately, adding spots was an extra $100, and my dad decided to go without it since we were trying to save money.
I didn't get so many progress pictures as I had hoped, but once I did, I was surprised that Michael had thrown in the spots for free! It was so sweet of them, the spots were a very important part of the design. I just made one color change—from an orange to a peachy coral—and that was it! Michael even added some rose gold pigments and it was beautiful!
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Communications were kept the entire way, very kind and caring staff, honestly in my opinion THE BEST costumer service you'll ever receive from any tailmaker ever. Perfect.
RECEIVING THE PACKAGE: Everything was intact, lots of plastic bags, came with a thank you letter. Only bad thing was that the box came with a hole as big as my hand, but I'm sure it wasn't their fault, probably just delivery handling.
APPEARANCE:

The colors come to life in the sunshine, especially the glitter! Of course, like everyone says, the pictures do no justice!
QUALITY: There's a Finis Wave in the fluke. It swims like heaven—very fast, and no drag at all. I love how flowy the fluke is. The fluke drainage holes are very efficient, and the seams are covered so well and are very reinforced, which I love! My first swim with it, and the tail got pretty beaten up, I was certain that I had scratched up some parts, but when I checked, there were none at all! The silicone is really thick, no kidding when you guys said these were durable!
THINGS I WOULD CHANGE:
I was pretty upset that it wasn't as metallic as I had hoped it for, but I'm still totally in love with my tail! Because of this, I will give Mernation 4.5 out of 5 stars.
CONCLUSION: If you want a good quality tail, customer service, and fast production, MerNation is definitely the way to go! I believe that having all these aspects makes MerNation one of the best tailmakers out there—honestly I TOTALLY underestimated you guys. Thank you so much!!
Woww!! :swoon:
Ahh! So glad you finally got your tail :D Looks gorgeous!
I love the cut you chose for your tail. I honestly wasn't a fan of their original shape but good to see it can be adapted!
These tails always seem very well built- and they're improving with the paint jobs ^.^ good to see progression
Wow, I didn't know it either, that they could modify those flukes like that O.O Absolutely stunning! Did it cost extra?
I asked them about it before and no it doesnt cost extra :)
edit: oh just kidding
Well I guess now they charge for it :/
Oh my god the new fluke!!!!!

That new fluke, oh my cod. I saw the pictures on my newsfeed, went "Holy crap that's a cool shape," then I saw it was by MerNation and my jaw hit the floor.
Like, I find their paint jobs are kind of hit-and-miss for me (The body on this one looks fantastic, but I feel like the fluke colors got all muddied together) but overall I'm always floored by how much they improve with every single tail they make. I remember seeing them when they first started and being kind of put off by just how basic and amateur they looked; now, and especially with the debut of their new fluke, I'm starting to actually want one of my own!
They put so much amazing work into their tails, and they really care about getting better and better. And it shows. I can only imagine what amazing designs they'll be pumping out with this new fluke. :swoon:
:D thanks for the kind words. Over the last 3 years of making hundreds of tails we definitely feel like we have improved, as any good company should.
We feel it's very important to keep moving forward with new designs, skills and products but still maintain the superior customer service you all have come to know and appreciate.
That photo does seem to look very dark and muddled :/ sorry about that! When I get back to my computer I will try to post a better one for you guys here. Thanks again for the continued support and love you all!
I totally agree. They've stepped it up! As for their paint jobs, I always felt like they looked cartoonish, but in a cute way, like Lisa Frank. And I figured that was their style. It's not my style though, so it's awesome to see them gaining new abilities and improvements! The brightness on that photo is a little low, but I can clearly see that the tail is really amazing, and the blending on the body is the best I've seen them do. Very well done!
I was decided on getting a Mernation tail before- but seeing the Khaleesi fluke last night just helped confirm that my dream tail will definitely come to life in due time!
The fluke combines all of my favorite traits I've seen in other flukes and the detail of it blows my mind away! Sharp and siren-like but elegant in it's own right.
Mernation, you either sold your souls or performed a miracle to achieve this. Either way, great job!
If anyone wants a rough tail psd template with the Khaleesi fluke to play around with and color I made one last night. Just let me know ;)
My jaw dropped when I saw that new tail pop up in my instagram.... DAT FLUKE!!!!
I have been struggling to decide which maker to go with, but was really leaning toward Mernation because they are local to where I live. I didn't care for either fluke design, but seeing the cut down version Jenele did I am IN LOVE. I am not fancy, I don't need flowy, I wanted pretty, simple. I would love to see a picture of Jeneles on, and in the water to see how big the fluke is.
Mernation tails, while beautiful, just weren't my cup of tea before because they seemed so cartoonish to me and I didn't really like their paint job but this new fluke is amazing! Though like said above, the fluke paint job is sorta "meh" (it reminds me of when you attempt to mix together paint to make brown and you get that odd green brown color on accident) the body paint is just amazing though!
I love watching Mernation grow with each tail they make
