I was thinking the same thing; hopefully those golden flecks will catch the light nicely! :pearl:

Now that is kind of neat looking! Like a goldfish :)
Went swimming at the beach today - first time in public! I got a lot of weird looks from passers-by, and an ogle from a couple of kids in a boat ;)
Image heavy, sorry~
I increased the contrast and upped the colours a little to try to get the tail closer to how it looks in real life. This thing glows with colour when it's in the water!
I'm making weird faces in a lot of these but the tail looks nice at least, haha.

Those colors are gorgeous!
The tail matches so well with that water color. Not in a bad way, just in a "the coloration of the photograph is very appealing" way.
I concur! I can almost smell the water when looking at those photos! You legitimize wearing an unmodified bra with a tail, those rough, scalloped scales and ventral fins look very realistic (especially underwater), and that fluke is very impressive! :mermaid kiss:
Attachment 20011Me in my first Latex Tail. I made the mistake of using ALEX Plus, but wasn't a bad first ;D
Thanks guys! I chose the colours so they'd match my favourite types of places to swim - mostly lakes and lagoons and places that don't necessarily have bright blue water :P
The fins were my own design, and I'm really happy with how they turned out.
I'm only wearing a bra because my bikini top broke, but I agree, it sort of works! I definitely prefer understated tops :)
Melaina, what kind of monofin is in your tail? I love the way it stands up.
It's definitely a competitor.
That's what I thought. It seems most of their clients get competitors in their fins. I'll be doing the same.
@Mermaid Melaina - And you don't even need an umbrella on hot sunny days...
Melaina the colors on your tail are the prettiest I have ever seen and that is probably one of the prettiest tails ever!!! It's on par with some of Hannah's tails for me!!!! :swoon:
I agree! Though I also want to point out how lovely Tahia's first try turned out! The pseudo-rainbow effect on the fluke is gorgeous! :mermaid kiss:
Yep, competitor :)
Wow, thanks! What a compliment! I agree with you, but I'm biased of course ;D
Haha, that shot was of me losing balance and smacking myself in the head with the fin. It definitely would work as a makeshift umbrella! :D
I haven't been very active on here but I thought I would share my tail journey. No idea if I'm posting correctly :S but here goes.

Ooo! I love how in some shots, you are wearing a tank top and not a bra top.
I'm really shy about flashing my bits, so I have been looking at other options besides a mermaid bra.
Yeah I mainly wear tank tops over bikini tops. I have a bit of flesh to cover! And I wear netting over the top to hide my arms and stop sunburn!
They all look nice, and it is nice to watch the tail "evolve". The finale looks especially cool; congratulations on being invited to be a tank mermaid! :mermaid kiss:
Is that a fabric tail?
It is gorgeous!
Yes it is! It has a neoprene layer underneath and then a layer of spandex and then a layer of mesh. But I ended up taking off the mesh and using it for side fins. :) The fluke is hand painted.
Thanks michelle, I really enjoyed swimming in a tank. Much more difficult that I thought it would be but so fun!
You are quite welcome! I imagine that the close-quarters of a tank could limit one's ability to swim around, especially with a large fluke, and it looks like you had company!
Hi everyone here are a few pics of my tails I've created over the last couple of years. I have used a bunch of different materials as I experiment with each one ;)
This one is mostly just spandex: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/a9uzepy6.jpg
Then I realised pretty quickly that the shiny spandex gets worn down by the sand, so I used the same type of material but covered it in clear silicone as a protective barrier: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/8aby5use.jpg
Then I got pregnant and fat so I that tail no longer fit. I used the same fluke but changed the body of the tail, I also added a scale pattern: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/neqybava.jpg
After that I created a full neoprene one without the spandex cover and it has a new fluke:http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/uqenerav.jpg

I'm still currently using this tail but my fluke broke and the paint is starting to wear away quite badly around my butt and my knees. Hopefully I will have my new beautiful FinFolk tail soon to show you guys xxx
Oh yeah I also made the twins tails hahahttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/0417/a4y9ase9.jpg

Wow! You are beautiful and talented and I'm glad you have twins to pass on your genetic material (I sometimes like to give unusual compliments...lol)! They are adorable merbabies! :mermaid kiss:
One does need to exercise caution with the DIY tails, though; my first (and homemade/improvised) monofin was just starting to break after my first rigourous swim!
We had a great summer here in Australia so I was at the beach in them most weekends and yeah they took a beating. We are in autum now so things are winding down a bit more. I did feel quite proud wearing something I made but I have to say I'm so excited to get a full silicon tail! And I may not have made it myself but at least it still has a bit of me in it as I designed the colour/style. Will also have to get use to a compeditor mono fin *eek*
I love your tails! The evolution of your style is wonderful, and your twin merlings are adorable!
I can't wait to see how your tail comes out PearlieMae, I've seen pictures on Facebook and it looks stunning :)
I just got my very first tail! Woo hoo! I'll put a few more realistic fins on it, and some sequins here and there, and I'm ready to rock!

whoa! try it on try it on!!!
Everyone's new tails look so beautiful! I hope to make 2 or at least try to start 2 this summer.
Congratulations on your first tail, fishteer! I'm curious to see the modifications you will add to it! :mermaid kiss:
It definitely needs a little more realism, but I love the fabric!
Attachment 20172Well. Here's my tail. Very first tail actually
Oooh, shiny! Congrats!
Thank you :3
Nice! Many more awesome tails with cute colors.
Your entire outfit is sheer perfection, Goldie! I wouldn't have guessed that tulle would be a good fluke material, but it's stunning in the water!
Yes, and Fishyricky's shiny tail is also a nice look, especially as it is your first tail! :mermaid kiss:
