Well. Try that parent video of Raina's.
She is also just gonna tell the doctor I'm acting out and tell her to raise my risperidone. She really doesn't get it at all. It's a normal human feeling to feel frustrated after a while. She thinks it's because of my bipolar.

I'm 20, married, and have a baby on the way hun, and my dad, 72, still says to get it out of my head and that its crazy.
Once I got my fabric tail, and saw me swim with it, he kind of calmed down, I showed him rainas video also. Bringing up the fact also that there is PLENTY of other, actually bad things you could be doing other than training to be a mermaid, also sometimes helps.
I feel your pain!
Did you show them the CNN article about NC Mer-Mania? Perhaps if they saw that lots of other folks enjoyed mermaiding as well?
Trust me shimmer ! I'm new! But these guys have really looked after me! Use this place to talk! And if you need a shoulder Pm me ! I'm not going to tell you that I know how you feel! But we have very similar backgrounds and im happy to chat to you, take care x
Shimmer is been around the forums for quite some time XD
heres my bitch. For some reason I've been developing pain in my left eye and I think it might be because I'm exposed to a screen too much. So I have to keep wearing my glasses. I know. It's a small bitch.
I've been mermaiding since I was 11, I'm 16 now. I'm also not mentally stable, but my mermaiding has nothing to do with how sane I am. I really hope your psychologist connects with you, and if she doesn't then you need a new psychologist. I hope she's on your side and can help you out.
Like Raina just had, I had a really bad concussion when I was younger, it caused my right eye to REALLY get screwy, I get migraines and its usually right behind that eye, and it caused my perfect vision, to be destroyed because of my right eye. I got glasses, but they just cause more problems. 😐
In other news, my step mom was making a yellow cake, we are very southern and plain yellow cake is a delicacy 👌, anyway, I got super pumped about this cake, and she covers the thing in really REALLY overpoweringly sweet icing.
*groan*
Why must the good die so young?!? 😖
Mermaid Selene how old are you? Did you have a spotter when you went swimming because that is dangerous to be in deep water alone so your parents are right to worry about your safety. From the texts you sent it seems like they won't even hear you out at all, but that could have been them reacting to the energy you put out in your messages. I'd say try again, but this time send one very long text (or if you're up for it sit them down in person ) to BOTH parents because to me one parent answering a message you sent to another is not only rude but digging into my privacy but that may be because of the relationship my mom and I have where I'll tell her things that should only be between me and her and my dad reading the messages will be crossing a line, back on topic tho:
Calmly explain in the text how you feel ex:
You two never seem to want to hear me out, and it's really bothering me. You don't believe in my dreams and don't want to even spend the time trying to understand my dreams and about it, you're so set in your stubborn beliefs that you'd rather chastise me about it and poke fun at it instead of listen to me. Not to mention that you poking fun at me, you, the people who should support me and love me no matter what (because I can go to school and be bullied and chastised, I expect my family to have my back and support me with unconditional love) you instead make me feel like the black sheep, like I can't rely on you to be there for me.
Also you insult my intelligence when you assume my getting upset at you chastising me for something I love is due to my mental illness. My dream has NOTHING to do with my illness in the same way someone liking dogs has nothing to do with them getting a cold. Please do not try to correlate the two.
I want to open up a discussion on why the two of you act this way towards me, and I want a discussion that isn't you avoiding the question or talking over me. You will listen to me as I will listen to you, it will be a RESPECTFUL discussion."
Something like that.
I fully second this! The wording is very respectful, and is very mature sounding
Another pregnancy bitch:
I'm trying to sleep, but I keep lactating to the point that its soaking my shirt.
It. Won't. Stop.
Mermaid momo I think I'll do that! That's great advice. My parents are very old school parents, my dads a businessman and my moms a teacher so they don't always accept stuff out of their norm. I'm 17 and they have every right to be worried because I don't always think things through but I will try to get through to them on mermaiding. One way or another they will understand.
Good luck!
Thanks everyone
