Recently did a little shoot with an iPhone and my MerTender at this river in Comfort. Not digging the blonde, personally, but it was for a job so I don't mind, haha. Can't wait to go back to my normal Auburn though

Nice pics Caltuna and Kaila!
WOW those pictures are beautiful; they look like professional paintings, especially with the background so lush and the lighting so dappled!
I keep wondering though, what kind of job requires you to be blonde? Modeling? Character part?
you and your blue hair! haha i remember that! still awesome as always!
My friend Claire, who is a professional french mermaid in Paris, made some photos this week-end with her new tail made by herself. She is also wearing the birthday presents I gave her this past week which have been made by Iona the Mermaid (the earrings and the necklace). It looks great on her! :D

Wow, she and her creations all look stunning!
She looks very lovely :) The tail looks cool too, some different colors then most of us use
wow, Claire is a super beautiful mermaid.
I love her tail, awesome colours.
love her tail....the colors are amazing!
I know Claire; she and I are friends on Facebook and fortunately I know enough French to have read her college thesis on the mermaid 'subculture". I'm glad she is enjoying such success in tailmaking too! :mermaid kiss:
My tail has been finished a few days ago and it has already arrived in Paris. Customs is currently holding it for now.
Here it is! :D

another shot of my tail with another one who belongs to an english mermaid :)

very pretty.
is the second a "Splash" tail?
looks a lot like Raina's colorwise.
Looks more Fire and Ice to me! Lookin' Good!
I agree; it seems that, like your fellow French merfolk Claire, "everything in your world is blue."
Also, seeing that yin-yang looking clash of French ice and English fire makes me glad I'm Canadian; I live in the land where the English and French live in peace and relative harmony (just be sure to speak French in Quebec City!)
Frenchie!! I'm so excited for you!!! It looks amazing! :yay:
Oh my! That is awesome. Also, customs is probably scratching their heads over this one. ^^
I know, eh? I continue to be reminded of an old episode of Dinosaurs (an early-1990s sitcom similar to the Flintstones only live-action and performed by actors wearing animatronic dinosaur costumes) in which the teenage girl Charlene is anxious for her tail to grow in. At one point she orders a huge package in the mail...which turns out to be an artificial tail!
Hipster voice: You wouldn't understand. Seriously though, Cordelia, that is one of the best Hipster Ariel memes which I have yet seen! :mermaid kiss:
OMG! I remember that show! I watched Dinosaurs as a kid :)
Also those tails are beautiful congrats both Alex and the other owner. Reminds me of avatar if benders were mermaids those would be from the water and fire nation haha
"Not da mama!" I remember Dinosaurs! I watched it too, even though I was pretty darn little.
Arion, your tail is AWESOME!!!!
OK; it seems a couple of you do understand!
Mermaid Isabel, I too am reminded of AVATAR: Not the James Cameron One; That Came Later. In particular, whenever Raven mentions her new Koi Fluke to me I think of the yin-yang koi lung fish of the moon at the end of the first season. They didn't take too well to fire, though....
Mermaid Pickles, I imagine you would have been quite young when Dinosaurs ended its run twenty years ago; you are still a very young lovely little mermaid! On the subject of koi, one thing I do like about Pokemon a lot are the Magikarp. I remember when I first saw them as a teenager I thought to myself, I would be SO nice to my Magikarp; they are SO useless that I just KNOW they turn into something amazing.... When I played I grabbed multiple Magikarp and cared for them lovingly until they evolved. They are just so cool, it's:
Love nurture love coddle love nurture DRAGON ARMY!
Yes! Just yes! I never thought about the koi tail. That settles it there needs to be a line of avatar tails haha
Ha ha I love magikarp :b

Yay! Avatar: the last airbender, AND Dinosaurs fans? My day is made!
Just came home from work... A small box was waiting for me on the dinner table!
My new tail! So beautiful! Can't wait to swim in it!

Congrats! I ordered mine yesterday.
Oooo rainbow pattern...and everything matches! Have (Fin) fun! :mermaid kiss:
AWESOME! I want that color set too! Enjoy it! I'll have to wait to get mine.... need to pay bills first...
Thnx all! And it fits perfectly too, so no chopping off the fluke like I did for the Magictail.
Here is a prototype for my daughter. The deal was if she could swim with it I would make a tail for her that night. Well she loved it.

With the fins I had at the house I opted to work on a selkie tail(Selkie being seal like thus two independent flippers, which would make a mono fin an actual mer-tail). This is us (her actually) trying on and sewing the tail.

Unfortunately being my first full tail, I thought the suit liner would have been great as it was...
Nope it was see thru. So a quick sketch to show Emma Isabella (daughter) the design intent....

And I whipped out my airbrush and started spraying.
Here is the final product of that ordeal.

The dorsal fin/ribbon was dyed, but the swimsuit material doesn't hold well. Lessons learned were that the paint fades a little but really takes the elasticity out(and seemed to shrink the fabric) so I'll cut longer next time I airbrush paint on to a tail. I would still love to find dyes that will hold on to swimsuit material(or I guess I'll just make custom orders from a material manufacturer). The tails are designed to have the fins inserted on the bottom after the tail is put on the legs(for ease, they roll up like socks and you pop your fin on). The tip of the fluke is not sewn closed completely, this allows water in the tail to drain without bulging. Next project is a monotail/mer-tail project. I'll post step by step photos if interested. I bought a monofin from Wave fins, I love it. Lastly is that there is such thing as white swimwear/activeware that is opaque, should have gotten it.
edit: apparently I need to look at how to link photos..... you can right click and open in new tab/window to view. Sorry....
It looks quite nice, and your daughter takes to such a swimming style quite well!
so, my newest:
silvery white 3D scale tail.
Attachment 21867
it's not quite finished, I need to work on the fluke and whatnot.
but I already think it will be my new signature tail, even though the krait tails look fancier haha.
