Hey everyone, I've been away from Mernetwork for a little while, just busy busy. Hope you all get your tails soon. I'm pretty sure my wait on a tail was 7 months too. But I know since I ordered mine (back in January) FinFolk wasn't as popular and not as well known as they are now. I think they had about 3000 likes on Facebook and now they have over 23000! They must be doing something right ;)

Wow, it's gorgeous. Now I'm conflicted about who to order from... AGAIN.
Sorry to break the happy feelings.... But you just made one Mermaid cry. Like really really cry... I just saw a picture of here of my dreamtail. A 'tigertail'. I'm heartbroken and crying for 30 minutes straight now and feeling devastaded because someone has 'stolen' my dreamtail... I don't want to sound mean or pathetic. I just needed to say this. It's 11 in the evening here, I'm going to sleep. Just wanted this off my chest.
I think a tiger is more orange than that tail though. There could be another Tigerlike-tail without problem, just add more stripes, other colors and it's a completely different tail on the same concept! Don't lose hope!!! :hug:Quote:

I agree with Yulia, it doesn't even look that tiger-ish! It's less orange than I'd imagine, and the stripes are too even and rigid. It's a lovely tail, but I think there could be different, more accurate designs you could come up with. You can still have a unique tigertail yet! :)Quote:

Thank you all. I won't lose hope. I was just really shocked when I saw this. I talked about with my boyfriend now I know you're right. I can still have my unique dream tail. Thank you for making me realise that.
I love the new fluke, but my new tail is going to be cotton candy colored and I feel like those new tapered rough edges on the outside wouldn't go as well with a cotton candy tail as nice smooth edges would.
by the way, I came in here to ask if anyone could share pictures of the seams on their finfolk tails? Just curious to see what they look like.
I just realized it was mid-June when I ordered my Finfolk tail. It may be 2015 before it's born!

Mertailor just showed some of his new tails he has been working on and the one I emailed to finfolk is the exact colors that Mertailor released. Slightly different though but instead of getting upset, I looked at it as a tool, To see what I could tweek with mine and it also let me see the colors put together!!!

It's quite possible! I just put in my tail order in yesterday, and they said they're pretty backed up until late spring, early summer for getting their tails out. So it could definitely be a while. I like to think of it as giving me more time to replenish the money I'm spending for it -- even though it's completely worth it! ;)Quote:

BUT! Eyebrow "embroidery" technically. Sounds funny but I had it done in a grocery store yesterday lol. But the lady who did mine is the only one who does it at a good caliber to where it doesn't look fake, and she's the only one around me for hundreds of miles

I usually do ECCC instead, it's more my crowd and I can usually only justify one or two cons a year. ECCC and PAX are my regular two.

No, I'm very particular about where I swim and you're my first WA state buddy that I talk to :) you should come with me next year! I haven't been in years. Worked last year's PAX as an Invidia after party model and tab around as pikachu but this year I didn't look so I didn't get hired, so I didn't go.

Just a general note to everyone who is saddened by similar color designs or tail designs, I can tell you that in the art world, there is a lot of overlapping. This is just something that happens. Tails are no exception- there are many beautiful fish in the sea, and if you and another mermaid are the same fish, that's ok! There's more than one in the ocean, too! ;) In Burlesque (what I do) there is a lot of costume overlap and taking ques from the designs of others... this isn't a ripoff, it's an inspiration. If you show your dream design to a friend, and she secretly orders that exact design before you do and decides to be a pro mermaid in your town with your design without asking you, THAT'S stealing. Otherwise... enjoy the tails! :)
On the topic of similar tails. If it's accidental or with permission I suggest having fun with it. If it's on purpose with malicious intent, explain they're the evil twin.
Otherwise you could pretend to be merlated (mer-related, however sounds better to you), even across the globe. And have fun with different areas and fun with mersonas... or what-have-you
