I ordered some ink and when it arrived, I found that they sent me a piece of candy with it!
It is a pretty major retailer as opposed to a smaller, more personal shop, so I was a little surprised but also excited.
I will certainly order from them again in the future.
Because I am an adult and can be won over with candy and a hand written thank you note.

I got to spend like half an hour wandering around the local hobby-aquarists supply shop. I go there to buy bird seed, but it's no secret that their main thing is aquariums, so I just got to wander. One of the fish was dead, but from what I heard from panicked yelling in the back, they were having a massive crash in PH due to a coral die off. So. One fish was pretty good. And I never see dead fish there, so I'm cutting them some slack.
Anyway. This is the happy thread.
I GOT TO LOOK AT THE PRETTY FISHES AND OH MY GODS THEY HAD A QUEEN ANGEL FISH ON DISPLAY. GOT TO SEE ONE OF THOSE IN THE WILD ONCE, SO HAPPY TO SEE THAT KIND OF FISH AGAIN!

Despite being crushed by the loss of my sweet Moochie cat to cancer on Saturday, The Beau made my birthday today especially nice with (among other things) a pair of illuminated light saber chopsticks in purple, and a lovely lunch at the best restaurant in town...and the night is still young! :mermaid kiss:

Just got the news that my husband and I are going to be stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia for 3 years!
While I'll be sad to leave the west coast, I have to admit, I like the idea of being a less than a day's drive from home- which is in WV. I know my family and friends will be happy to hear that at least ;) I know there are lots of mermaids in VA :) Also this means I can actually go to MerMania now! The biggest obstacle to that was the cost of plane tickets. Pretty excited about that!!
I'll be happy to get away from the constant depressing rain and cloud cover that is the Pacific Northwest, but not looking forward to colder/harsher winters and the summer humidity. Also, snow??? I haven't been in a "normal" climate in 8 years (been in California and WA all that time), haha. I've seen snow all of 2 times in those 8 years :P I've heard summer is really lovely in VA though!

Just when I was convinced that this year is totally going to suck (with people dropping dead right, left and center), I remembered:
The REAL new year starts at Feb 8th!
That means we currently are still in the year of the sheep, which explains a lot (it's said to be a terribly unlucky year always, which is why chinese birth rate drops very low in sheep years- sorry, sheepborn peeps!),
and the next one is bound to be much better!

That simple message turned into the best thing ever, we're now engaged and planning our wedding. The super-awesome kicker, he appreciates my geekyness especially in regards to being a mermaid. (My ex thought I was a total weirdo, not in a good way, and hated that I found new friends and a new hobby).
Since my ex and I were married for 10 years (YES! TEN YEARS!), He now had to give me half of his 401K (it's not a lot, I can't even buy a new car with it), but you know what I can buy with it.... That's right, a full silicone tail. That day finally arrived, because in CA it takes like a year to divorce, another to get any money if you get it... yeah, took forever, so while I'm waiting for it, I turned my life around without him (he was emotionally abusive, and it was so slow I didn't even see it coming!)
I'm so proud of my life right now! Everything is different, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me.

I love the tattoo! You can always add colour at a later date if you want - you want to make sure you're completely happy with the colour scheme if you do get it done. [emoji4]
I'm happy for a few reasons:
Firstly, my little rat Disco is looking good! He had a lump removed on Tuesday and decided to remove all the glue and most of the stitches overnight, meaning the vet had to stitch him back together the next day... He's now went from Wednesday till now without undoing the vets work and looks like he's healing up nicely, so I'm a lot happier!
I also treated myself to some bath bombs from lush and a new set of pyjamas today. Sometimes it's the little things that count! [emoji4]
