1. Scales will be individually pigmented and assembled. I'm not painting! What would be the point of painting over individually assembled scales? Might as well make a scale sheet!
2. The scales will be sealed down to each other like a fish body. It's my opinion that lifting scales will be problematic... in drag through the water, cleaning the tail, and I think lifting scales might make for a delicate tail, likely to rip. But that's my opinion. That's not a Pearlie Mae tail. I don't know of any fish whose scales lift (while they are alive).
3. Custom scales, fins and flukes will likely be offered at a reduced rate initially, while I build a library of styles. Unique/exclusive scales, fins, and flukes may be offered at a premium, but it's likely to be very expensive because it's a lot of work for one tail.
I work for Starbucks! I'll bring you a whole gift basket. ;p
Oh man, this is so exciting. I've been waiting for a tail maker to pop up in the New York area~ How long do you reckon orders will take from completed payment to shipping? I'm going to Mexico in March and although I doubt I'll have enough money by then, it's nice to dream lol.
I LOVES TEH SQUISHY!
But remember, my mini tails aren't only squishy, they are also wiggly and flippy floppy...and oh! Teh SPARKLY!
Seraphina, I'm not sure how long construction will take, I'm estimating three months, but right in the beginning, I can't be held to that, yet. Might be sooner, might be later. I'm going to work on all my logistics and conditions and release that info in a couple of weeks. Right now, I don't plan on working on more than one tail at a time...that may change once I get underway, but I don't know just yet.
All will be revealed! :D
you know how to be a saleswoman don't you O.O

You're amazing! Can't wait to see the whole plan come together for you!
So...I don't know if it's appropriate to continue using this thread as my personal Pearlie Mae area, now that the tail is 99.99999% done, so let me know if I should go and blog on my own site. But I did want to share my some of my weekend at the World Maker Faire in New York!
First, some press: http://makezine.com/2014/09/21/pearl...-mermaid-tail/
No this is like a legendary thread! It's like the incarnation of perlie MaeMae
It's your tail journey, so I think it can go on for quite a while! Next leg of it is making tails for others and branching out your designs. Lots more journey to be had!
I need my daily episode of -
"What is PearlieMae doing today" :)
She is posting updates regularly on her pages/FB ;)
update: I'm a weakling i bought a mini tail.
I don't think you're too weak to squish silicone! lol
Whaddya mean, "weakling"? You mean AWESOME!
and in other news...

Awwwww! I don't think you ever had to be hopeful, you were born to be mer!
How awesome is this? It was posted to my facebook page!
I'm thinking he meant "revealed", but "reviled" is wonderfully cool, too. "Please don't fucking drown." is an actual quote from my kid!
I gotta admit, I love this!

Reviled, lmao. That's priceless.
What a revileation!
Even people who never heard of mermaiding before are bound to love your tail ;)
I didn't know if it was proper to put it here, only because PearlieMae felt this topic was exhausted so I put it on facebook.
Well now I know.
...Let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore....
(Song queued by Mark's last words, yet also fitting given the matter at hand.)
That magazine cover is precious, the misspelling delightful, and the whole concept fun enough to really capture people's attention....Even if the clerks aren't sure whether to put it in the business or aquatic pets section....
Due to popular demand. :p I thinking I should include articles next time.

I didn't know that was you!
Eyes going blurry reading drawings, needed a distraction.
I would love to place an order... Countdown to October 1st! Congrats!
I'm late but joining in the chorus of, "Pearlie that is the most amazing tail" - it turned out incredible. It's obvious how much care and effort went in. So beautiful.
I love that idea, I need to try that with my dorsal ^__^

Not to worry, I'm drafting an installment plan... :mermaid kiss:
I remember you posting on here what resin you were using for your molds, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find it. Then again, there are 90 pages to wade through. XD Would you mind reminding me?
No! Don't be sorry, it's awesome! And thank you for letting me know!
Oh carp! I didn't know I had Visitor messages! I'm sorry I haven't replied! I will take care of that now. My apologies!
Your tail is fabulous! I've got my eye on you, ma'am'selle.
