I haven't stopped thinking about your scale test. I lost this topic and couldn't find it again, and now I am soo happy to see that you have done even more amazing things for this tail! As everyone else said the color and shine looks fintastic!

Aww you guys are so sweet and motivating! Thanks! :$ Also thank you for the kitten-comments. By now my older cat has left us too, so it's a bit like a fresh start there as well. <3
Anywho! A few making off pics!
First off, total desaster pic. My foam scales looooved the shell shock(tm) so much they up and on married on my table. I had to torch the entire thing with a heatgun and then spent literal months scraping the mold clean... ...talking about it gives me horrible flshbacks :D

Next up my self made monofin. Yay! So proud. Also don't trust it At all.

And lastly some random layering shot. That's the one thing I learned about working with silicone, you wait. A Lot. - Apologies I can't get the pic to be the right side up, for some reason...

I love how your scales get smaller toward the bottom. Beautiful!
I simply love how you laid out your scales, they a re vey realistic as the circles aren't touching the one next to them - just as a fish's scales! Also what Dancing Fish just sait, beautiful work scaling them down towards the feet. I hope this thread is going to be a picture heavy one! <3

love the colours so Alluring, the finished product is going to look heavenly.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. <3
While I'm waiting for the next shipment of silicone (seriously being a tailmaker in Europe is very complicated...) I'm fiddling with my shell top-thingie. Not very far yet, but I covered the nude bra in fake waterlilly leaves and added the shell cups. Now what to do for straps? Not sure yet *flail*

Also, I just got gifted a whole bunch of professional cosmetic pigment! Which is awesome but...ummm... Does anyone want a golden tail? ^^

Oooh! I'm sure there's a potential goldfish out there, if not, I might be interested if you're looking to relieve yourself of the pigments!
As for the top, I see lots of the decorative fishnet incorporated into straps, I guess you just sew it in to the bra base. I haven't made one, so I'm not sure...maybe make the fishnet straps long enough to tie like a halter?
yasss, perfect :O I think thats what silicone as material is made for, so much possibilities in layering and translucency and that this thing actually takes up aaaany texture; me too, sooo waiting for the final stuff ^^ :thumbs up:
My new tail is gold and yellow ;)
I absolutely adore your scales - they're so beautiful and subtle, and VERY realistic! The colour shift is just gorgeous. I can't wait to see this finished!
Regarding the waiting part - I use a hairdryer on a high heat / low power setting when I'm painting with silicone and it really speeds up the cure time. (Platsil Gel 10 takes about half an hour normally, longer when you thin it - and the hairdryer speeds it up to about 5 min.)

Wow I love your smaller scales in the bottom :jawdrop: they're absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks everyone for your comments and requests. :) However there seems to be a small misunderstanding; I'm not looking to sell the pigments. First of all I'd never sell something I got gifted ^^ and secondly, I was planning to work with them a bit myself and see what I can make. And I don't know if there's going to be enough left for another tail project.
That said though, maybe I won't use them - and I'll offer them (for shipping costs only of course) to anyone intrested in order of inquiry. First two are PearlieMae and Merman Ordep (including timestamps on the personal messages :)). I'm dearly sorry for everyone who showed interest afterwards.
Love, Nim
If PearlieMae is interested in the pigments you can give them to her, Afterall I'm still waiting for my neoprene to come so I can start using silicone ;)
Oh no no no ! I have more pigments than I need. I was just offering them a good home in case you weren't going to use them ;)
You can remove me from your list of potentials :D
Suuuper stoked to see how this tail ends up. YOUR SCALES AND FLUKE ARE GORGEOUS!!!
Thanks everyone! :) More progress reports coming soon!
Also: What happens if you have a birthday after your family has discovered your tail-project...
