Well, every man's pecs are going to look a bit different. My own husband's pecs are wide set like the outline on your sketch, Dottie.

Dottie,
I loved your tail designs. That's so exciting! I wish you the best of luck.
Sharks, dolphins, and whales are fairly smooth ('cept some bumpy whales)
...Does the tails texture require much thought as well?
I mostly only see Super scaley type tails. Just curious! ('Personally like the shark concept the best!)
Caltuna,
The upper fin on it's back it so pretty. I'm a sucker for fins with dark edges.
I have no idea what 'lexan' fins are XD;
Thanks,Lyretail (do you actually play the lyre? :) ). I'll probably go with bumps on the whale, smooth on the Dolphin, and stippled/rough on the shark.
Have you ever played the Doll Divine game? I want to have similar options to that, though probably not as many, since my creative juices sometimes run dry before I'm done.
Dottie, (Not yet... but hopefully someday I'll be able to!)
That'll be neat. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
Never heard of it until you mentioned it.
I gave it a whirl, it's pretty good!
That's understandable. It's tough sometimes.
They are all amazing goodjob
Awe... Thank you, Bri. I feel so loved tonight!
@ Mermaid Dottie... you are totally right, i wasn't being fair and polite and i didn't think about the time you have spent on those designs. :$
i sincerely apologize for my behavior earlier. i had a rough day and i shouldn't have been rude to you, it was wrong.
i'm sorry :(
looking back, it actually looks good. thanks for drawing them.
Here's a sketch for one of my Coney Island Mermaid Parade designs...I'm thinking of translating it into a silicone tail.

Wow, that looks lovely
O . O,
That's so beautiful.
Wow, I bet that would look stunning in real life
I need help :( i been coloring for 2 hours I am not sure what kind of tail I like....all i know is i wish to have a nice blue mermaid tail

I like that coloration, Scilla! Blue and gold look good together imo. If you can afford it, I think a couple of small side fins would look cute, but that's just me.
if you're looking for another color, I think a little pink would look lovely, but I am kind of obsessed with pink, so that may just be me too :P
Either way, I love the blue you chose!
I find adding just a little of an ajacent color can make a monocromatic tail really pop. So maybe a tiny bit of either green or purple as a highlight or lowlight?
Pumpkinseed sunfish.

^^ I used to catch those at my great-aunt's summer camp on Lake Waukewan in NH! But I think you would need some more fins for them! ;) It is lovely, though!

The Wraith Mermaid, sometimes referred to as Wraithmaids, were considered an ill omen by sailors of the Great Lakes. Given their ghostly-white bodies and solid black eyes, many believed them to be the spirits of women lost at sea, or widows searching for their drowned sailors. Wraithmaids travel in groups of 3 to 9, and they search out sunken vessels to live in. Their tattered fins are a result of jagged edges and hazards that come with navigating a ruined ship. They stay in the freezing waters of Superior, Huron, Michigan and Ontario because the freshwater and cold temperatures preserve the wrecks far longer than seawater.
Some wraiths can live hundreds of years in the Great Lakes, surfacing only during fierce storms. They can sense a dying ship and will circle it for hours, waiting for the decent of their new home. Any sailor who caught sight of a wraith knew his struggling vessel was doomed.
^^ that's a cool story! Is it for real, from the Natives?
Anyways, I love it!
Ghostly Mers/Water spirits are my absolute fav.
Nope, made it up. I'm turning into a great lakes shipwreck buff and the idea just stuck.
I keep coming back to these colors, for my next tail design:

Red snapper?
Red Drum . I live in NC. The red drum is our state fish. It seemed appropriate.
Red drum, omg how did I not recognize it from that image? My dad's a fishing guide and he catches red and black drum daily. I'm ashamed of myself, lol.
Based off the Red Mandarin Dragonet~!
Which one do you like better? Large fins, or small? :)

First one! The second one seems to busy to me, especially with a top. I've always liked simpler designs
I love the first one, OMG! Do you plan to make that as a tail?
Here's my tail design, brought to life by the lovely Raven of Merbellas, if you guys want to check out more photos/videos and all that jazz when I get it you should come over to my FB page :) https://www.facebook.com/MermaidSelene.au
Didn't someone on here have a sea snake tail? Here's my take on it

I am TERRIBLE at paint but I was planning on asking Raven to make me a tail like this some time in the near future.
I was also thinking maybe very small purple, orange or turquoise accents colors. It's a lot of pink. Haha.
*gasp* Mer-Crazy, that's an amazing tail! And I love the little heart :)
Cheshkitten: OMG that's an awesome design! I like the first, I also think the second one might be a bit too busy on a mer... I think BIG fins look best on fish, IMO :P And, if the fish doesn't have scales, I see no need for a texture - Actually, I don't think I've seen a non-scaled silicone tail yet! I think it would be cool. Maybe some realistic faint lines and pits for texture? If you know what I'm talking about -_-;
