Mine has heel fins...

If you don't mind me asking Merin, how much did this particular tail run you? I completely understand if you don't what to answer, just thought I would ask.
I don't mind answering but I'd prefer to do so privately.
Thank you everyone! So happy to see it's well received!
There is always that temptation to add heel fins, for even in Splash! one can see Madison/Daryl's heels very obviously, however both Merin and I have elected to forego them. In my case, it is because I don't want too much distraction from the thigh area (you'll see why). In Merin's case, I presume it is because adding heel fins would be less accurate for a Peacock Mantis Shrimp design....
If had to think about realistic fishes and fins for my tails, I don't think I'll ever get done with sewing!
Merin! That gorgeous tail should come in today! I think it's also one of my favorites! Guh.
I'm still going to add some extra fins, but I couldn't resist taking it for a test swim. This tail is specially designed to grow with my growing belly. I love it.

Hey mermaid Michelle! I found this pic of u in ur tail on tumblr thought u might appreciat seeing it ^_^
I am so impressed with all the beautiful mermaids!
I do appreciate that, NixieOona, and am flattered if you were addressing me! However that looks like Mermaid Merin's Mantis Shrimp tail; mine has a few things in common with it, yet is not done yet. :mermaid kiss:
Oh im so sorry they look so similar I just assumed it was you !
First swim in my first tale was awesome!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRDx...ature=youtu.be
You swim so well! I remember my homemade monofin was somewhat buoyant; I kept floating feet-first to the surface...lol
Yay kaguria!!! I'm so excited for you :)
Well the monofin in it is the foil but yea very bouyant

Thought I'd share this , finally got my tail in the mail
My first tail (now destroyed ) was a fabric the2tails tail so I don't have a photo for this thread
After cleaning up about a hundred packing Styrofoam peanuts I finally tried it on
Pleased to report it fits perfectly , the seams are sewn on nice and tight and the paint is decently painted on
Going to try it out in the pool today or tomorrow
I miss swimming. It's time to go back to the pool :)

Beautiful tails all! Meilyn, that quadro-fluke looks intriguing...I wonder how it swims! :mermaid kiss:
Good lord finfolk does beautiful work. I just stalk this thread when I don't have enough tail envy going on.
Effortlessly, until I stop LOL. It sinks me oddly enough, when I try to float/go static

im quite the dramatic so i couldnt of just made it easy on myself and just upload a short clip of me swimming , i had to take like 20 min of swimming video ( most i had to discard cause it took so long to get semi used to the heavier monofin ) and then edit almost everything out , other then that, the first swim was an overall success, if 12 pounds was pretty heavy on me , id be afraid to know what it be like at my current strength to swim in full silicone
Can't see anything Cecelia, it says "This video is private"
fixed it , i selected the wrong option
Practicing turns and more swimming!

This is my first prototype of mermaid tail. Not perfect. Monofin very bad (handmade) and bad painting. (2010)

My second prototype. Best, but monofin not good. (2012-2013)

Now i'creating, my official mermaid tail for professionnal performance. It will differente my prototypes. ^^
Love the flowy fluke too.
Since all I ever uploaded was blurry screen grabs and bad cell phone photos, I thought I'd post the video now that I have it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEb8_bovb9g
Wow graceful and grand
So good news, bad news; my regular black tail got dolled up with some sheer green fabric. Buut when I went to test it out my tail was a little.looser than before. So more modifications needed but it's a good thing.
Thank you mermaidMichelle
This is my last mermaid tail in my last video. Glow in the dark ^^ I used 3D and UV Paint:
