I'm stalking this thread and the MerBella one. It'll be at least a year or two before I go in on a full silicone tail, and if I were forced to choose which one now, I'd have to flip a coin between Fin Folks and MerBella. Your tails are all gorgeous!

I got updates, but also they repainted near the beginning because they didn't feel the colours were quite right, so I'm not sure how much of it was to do with that. If you're worrying about it, just ask them! I'm sure they'd be happy to provide more photo updates if you feel you need them.
Maressa, I've swam in the trainer, and it is AWESOME. You fill for sure love love that.
I'm getting more anxious than ever now! MY TAIL WILL BE STARTING TO COME TO LIFE SOON! :D AHHH~! <3
Thanks guys, feel a bit better now.
Also holy cow that girl commenting on the Finfolk page is driving me batty. Rude much???
Found her.
Another spoilted teen who think she can boss everybody around. She is indeed very rude.
They deleted all her comments (whew). Yikes! She was just asking for multiple tails and saying how pissed she was they weren't responding to her (many) messages and emails on multiple accounts and asking for their phone number... oi
I'm dreaming about a second FinFolk tail now.....

I still have about 6 months until my tail is done and I'm already thinking of my second. XDQuote:

I know the feeling. Been there, done that ;)
I asked Bryn yesterday when would be the best time to discuss for my second tail and she said that it would be not until somewhere this November, when they have the new shop completely set up and running. So here I am patiently waiting. I also paid the rush fees, I don't mind waiting a month before we actually get serious and talk business :)
It seems that tails are like tattoos...once you have one, you just can't help getting another, lol.
Yep! So so tempted haha

Same! I'm so tempted for a 2nd tail! I've been thinking about other tail makers, but I realize I just love finfolk too much!

They're really amazing. I'd be psyched with either a FinFolks or a Merbella. Difficult decisions ahead of me! (Unless I just get one of each!)
Or three of each. Or four... or five... Ten, maybe...
So from what I understand, they've moved to Hawaii, right? Their shipping is going to cost a FORTUNE now.
I know I'm not alone in wanting multiple tails from multiple makers. I'd love to have a tail for every kind of gig, or, you know, one for each day of the week. :P
Shipping already cost me a fortune, I live in Australia! Haha makes a good excuse to visit them in Hawaii tho

This was my first thought too...for us Americans anyway, and it might be upped too for otherworldly members too but I'm not a shipping expert either, so. :P
Still though, I get the weather will be way nicer for making tails and the photo-shoot opportunities on Hawaii but the shipping costs are going to be pretty detrimental to business imo. :/
Not only are shipping costs going to skyrocket, their materials costs are going up as well, because shipping dragonskin to Hawai'i ain't gonna be cheap, either...and those buckets are HEAVY!
for all worrying about shipping... http://community.ebay.com/t5/Shippin...ii/td-p/839090
^that said, shipping prices vary DRASTICALLY on wether or not you ask for tracking and insurance. I would assume that the girls add tracking to all of their tails, seeing as that's a HUGE financial loss if the courier loses it. That also said, the shipping prices for their materials might not be such a big added cost. They did say they would be increasing tail prices, but seeing as they had the cheapest full silicone tail on the market by about $500, that's not awful in my opinion.
They also posted that they would be absorbing some of the shipping costs, not sure if that only applies to the clients who ordered before they closed for the move or not, but it's a nice thing to do.

Assuming a 50 lb. box, 40" x 30" x 10", not including boxing it up ("handling" charges...this is just for cost of postage).
I'd hate to see them entrust a work of art like that to the US Postal Service. Much prefer UPS or Fed Ex.
So, I got to go swimming today... (probably the last time for the season...) and I may, or may not have taken a ton of pictures.
but it was a good day to relax in the sun:

Hey all!
Here are a couple of answers to your questions (and worries) regarding shipping. :)
We always ship UPS. Shipping costs will be slightly higher, but not substantially more expensive than long-distance continental. Remember that shipping will always vary depending on insurance and your location in the continental US. Our overall tail prices will see a small increase to defer our new supply costs, but these increases would have happened regardless of our move. For clients nearing production, some shipping costs may be absorbed - these are agreements between us and each individual client, and are based on their private, financial situation.
Relocating was the best choice for us and our company! The pros far outweigh any cons, including much faster, consistent production in the winter months. We're excited for the new inspiration and opportunities Hawaii will bring, and are ever grateful for your love and support!
Much Mer-love,
A&B
Hope you ladies all the best, and can't wait to see more pics of you swimming in that beautiful Hawaii water!

I'm happy for you, FinFolk! As a fellow Up Norter who loves visiting Hawaii, I completely understand the siren call of Aloha! Wishing you tropical inspiration and great success in your new island home.
And I'm excitedly awaiting my FinFolk Aurora Borealis tail, inspired by the icy Northern Lights and soon(?) to be born in the caress of warm Hawaiian breezes!
And HUZZAH about shipping! :)
@ Marlin
We want to see more of you! ;)
One picture is not enough lol
I really can't wait to collaborate with ya'll for my tail!!!! I keep getting more ideas!!!
