We could do a Kickstarter...the proceeds from the calendar could go to benefit ocean conservation. We could donate to Mission Blue or something.
I think you could bring it up to the girls :) Kickstarters are a LOT of work though. Mainly the making and mailing out of the goodies for the backers...
Ok, so I apologize in advance for anyone on a phone, this is gonna be a picture heavy post:

Thank you to Miss Marlin for being my private photographer that day. :D
Oh, I love it, Marlin! I remember chatting here with you and others, and you talking about getting that tail one day. I love that it is now yours! Congrats!
You look great Marlin! That color is fantastic on you.
OMG Marlin you're such a cute merman! ... I hope that didn't come off as weird, oops.
I love how bright the colors are on your tail, and those eye spots are awesome!
Handsome tail and handsome merman!
I'm so jealous! I want to play with you there! Looks like a fun place to swim :p
You look great, Marlin!
Marlin that tail suits you perfectly!!
~Mermaid Sirenia~
Those are great pics, Marlin! The tail looks great on you!
Thanks everybody for all the nice complements! I'm pretty camera shy normally, and this was out of character for me, but I had a really good time. I'm really happy they were so well received. I'll post a few others after I'm done editing them.
@deepblue:
You were one of my very first friends here on mernetwork and it really made me smile to hear that you still remember those conversations from well over a year ago. Thank you so much :)
@ Arion:
If you're ever in Florida, let me know! I'd be happy to take you- It's a great spring.
adorable I love it! way to go long time coming Marlin. :hug:
Marlin, you look fantastic! That tail suits you so well! Does Miss Marlin have a tail too?
Marlin, you look great and the tail is stunning. I love the blues and the fluke is perfect!!!! I am so glad to broke out and got in front of the camera!!!
ESPECIALLY if the Winter this year was like last year. There were a few days where it was honestly, and scientifically warmer on Mars than in Minnesota. And all our papers are warning that this upcoming winter is going to be vicious.... though I'd take cold any day than being unable to get my car out of the driveway because of a foot or two of snowfall the night before
I have to admit I'm a little heart broken that they're leaving Minnesota, but at the same time I understand.
What the heck do you guys do to keep form exploding while you wait for your tail? I have 2 months and a week and I feel like I'm going to DIE X_X lol
Maressa I am sooo glad I'm not the only one. @-@ I honestly feel like I'm losing my mind. I can't go a day without thinking about my tail now, espically since I'm a mere few weeks away now, UGH. :headwall:
I'm so busy with making my neoprene/sequin tail, not to mention preparing for concerts, recording a CD, and marketing my business and music, that I don't actually think much about the FinFolk tail. It will get here eventually!
@Lorelei & Maressa:
Best thing you can do is keep busy. I got lucky the first time my tail was on the way, I had work and school to occupy my time. I wont lie to you though... wait till it ships, you won't sleep the whole time UPS has it- too exciting :D
I wish I had the money to buy a FinFolk tail, or any for that matter, but making a tail is driving me crazy now that I have to wait for like 3 paychecks until I can afford the dragon skin silicone. Being a mermaid waiting for her tail is not for the faint of heart!
@ Lorelei- I probably refreshed the "Track my package" page a couple hundred times.
@Sandra- Took me 3 years to save up all the way for mine. Patience pays off in the end :D
Girl, that's nothing. I waited 5 months and the best thing I did was keeping myself busy in spite of being unemployed and having lots of time to kill.. Stop obsessing, focus on more important things like job, family or friends and use the time (if you have some) to do something else. Or even better, find another thing to obsess beside your tail being in production. Just saying. Good luck ;)

I don't think I can be any busier, lol! :gah: I'm going to school full time, working part time, I perform 4x a month, run 3 Burlesque Productions, do all the cooking/cleaning at home, and teach an art class. I think Arion hit the nail on the head with being obsessive. I saved for the damn thing for 4 years... so the wait just feels like an eternity.
How about meditation sessions where you close your eyes and visualize that tail; imagine how every detail looks and feels. Might tide you over until the real thing!
I very much enjoy reading this thread. It makes me feel less crazy for constantly have mertails on my mind
So, if FinFolk are moving to HI, wouldn't the Shipping the Australia be cheaper because it's closer then where they were? :confused:
I would find it very sad to squelch my imagination because, when it arrives, the tail I'm imagining might not precisely match what I visualized. Besides, it's already been visualized, in the original design plan. The calming and pleasure-activation effects of visualization are well documented in medical literature. It's a positivity tool.
The shipping business makes incredibly little sense. They have you by the short hairs because they control a thing you want. It's like a hostage situation! Yes, Hawai'i is closer, but it's also a different country. It would not surprise me in the least if, when shipped, a tail from Hawai'i going to Los Angeles to be shipped to Australia from a central hub.
Strangely enough, when I ordered my monofin it went from somewhere in the states to Hawaii then Australia. I guess it may just be who the shipping people are and how they like to organise things
