Is this the single color Mernation tail? I've heard they'll add an extra color sometimes. :) it's beautiful!

Was the 2k just including the extra fins?
Thanks! I'm actually planning on selling tails like those since there doesn't seem to be many affordable realistic tails to get people started out!

Here's my first photos in my new MerNation tail I received Jan 6. I'll post more once I get a chance to wear it again and especially when I swim for the first time. I'll be sure to have on my top lol I was so excited I forgot to put it on and didn't realize it until I was already in the tail haha. For those who dont know already, I have more photos of the tail on my Facebook page and instagram. Links on my profile. Also have an unboxing video on my youtube channel. Link also on my profile. Absolutely Love my tail! MerNation outdid themselves as always :D
@SeaVixen
What exactly went wrong with your dorsal??
Nothing "went wrong" on MerNations end. It left their hands in perfect condition. The mail people took it out of the box and bags and tore it up slightly. Luckily they made it thicker and used a harder silicone so it didn't tear as bad as it could have been. Definitely won't rip off! I have the silicone to repair it. If the mail people hadn't have messed with it then it would have been fine. I have no idea what exactly they did to tear it because I tried cutting my scale bracers open and they put up a huge fight so unless they took a knife to it I don't see how it ripped and no one will confess what happened. (Scale bracers didn't fit so I tried to see if I could make them bigger but couldn't) the bracers were a surprise gift. I'm just glad my fins weren't thin and fragile or they would have come off.
You look so cute SeaVixen! Your tail colors make me think of candy!
Also I hope that you get some kind of compensation from the post office.
I'm very sorry to read that there were so many mishaps, SeaVixen. Perhaps a knife really was taken to your dorsal, though unintentionally. Anyway, your tail is nice and candy-coloured and beautiful! :mermaid kiss: I can understand how awkward it would be to try putting your top on after you were already stuck in your tail, but the way you look in your photo it's as if you just transformed as the result of an accidental splash!
Thank you and I hope so. The person responsible should own up to it. MerNation is working on a claim because they had insurance on it. I sent pictures of the box and tail damage. Don't know which state it happened in. They had no business opening it in the first place. I hope it scared them to death lololll
Haha didn't even think of that. That is cute! I didn't want anyone walking in on me top less seeing as I was in the living room lol. [emoji15] [emoji33] It was laying right there in reach but oh well. Ha I should have put it on over my shirt lol! Me being silly. [emoji13] I do explain in the video about the mail incident and show the damage but I was still happy and excited nonetheless.[emoji1] One of those unexpected things. I wish I could have picked it up myself to avoid idiot mail people [emoji20]
Thank you very much, Amy! Glad you like it. Yes, it was my first tail attempt, but had some sculpting and painting experience before. Nevertheless I did a lot of SPFX material training, testing and constructing of small silicone things before starting a whole tail that would match my own expectations and taste ;-)
No, sorry, I did not make a tailmaking thread, it's just here :-)
Wow, I missed that video too. Glad it got reposted, I love that sea dragon tail!

C'est belle! :mermaid kiss: That wispy dorsal fin catches the light well and should look great underwater, too!
Seavixen that's soooooo beautiful tail!!! :O Wow, really amazing... And I just can't imagine how you felt when you realized the damage the postal office did, for real.. How can they do that?? I mean, ok yeah, they search for drugs and stuff but come on, you can't do that without destroying things...? I really hope you'll get something back from them. But all the work those guys have done, I man mernation, woww... They're so skilled, omg.. I didn't even know. There's now one more tailmaker on my list where I consider to ordering my full silicone one when I can afford. Amazing work!
I don't know why they opened it at all. They didn't for other people. MerNation sent close up pictures of the tail and it was perfect and they sent pictures of the box before shipping and it was perfect. USPS is employee a bunch of cruel heartless people who doesn't care about others stuff. I would like to confront the person responsible and make them pay $250
Such a pretty tail SeaVixen! Hope the damage ordeal gets sorted out!
I'm so sorry that happened to you :( At least 2 mers I know of had their tails destroyed by the post office. When the USPS employees cut open the box (for whatever reason) they completely cut down the body of the tails, cutting them open and making them useless. I never heard if the tails were insured or what happened with that.. just goes to show ALWAYS insure tails when you ship them! Always, always, always! I hope everything gets sorted.
Your tail is beautiful, and you are so lovely! ^_^ Subscribed to your YT- can't wait to see a swim video :)
SeaVixen, how gorgeous! You will be so beautiful wearing it. I'm so happy for you!!
Regarding USPS, I have always thought that if they need to open a package they should put a paper inside stating "The USPS needed to open this because...", and it should be signed by a manager. If it is illegal for anyone to open your mail, why do they do it without reason and without owning their screw-ups? I hope the claim goes well and you and/or Mernation get compensated for it.
This was the tail I just made
Thank you very much, Aziara!!!
And Stormy, your tail pattern and style is just unique and beautiful!!!
OMG I'm so glad That didn't happen to me. I would have been devastated! I'm sure if it did MerNation would have taken it back and repaired it. It just wasn't worth sending it back and paying $180 in shipping to and from just to have a few small tears in the dorsal repaired. They just went ahead and sent me silicone free of charge to repair it and sent me instructions on what to do. I haven't gotten around to it yet since I'm prepping materials for my student teaching at the moment because I start Tuesday! (I'm painting my teacher prize box at the moment :D very time consuming!) I want to be prepared for that since I could get a job offer out of it as well and I have plenty of time to fix the dorsal since the water won't be warm until may or june. I still love my tail so very much and it's absolutely perfect! They painted it just the way I wanted and everything. Despite the issue I was still super happy and excited!
Thank you! this fabric is great! I got it from spandex house ordered 2 yards it was enough to make 2 tails.

That is an impressive fabric tail! The scale pattern really catches the light, and I am anxious to see how the waist-blending goes! :mermaid kiss:

You have a beautiful tail that goes with your top and your bed spread (and room in general; I couldn't get that unless my house was on fire...lol)! Also, may I state that your screen name captures the imagination! :mermaid kiss:
Since I'm a total slacker and didn't think to post these pics in december when I got it...first tail ever! I got started with this stuff at Dragoncon actually.
