Mine's already gotten pushed back months from rush orders. I sure all of our tails have.
I made the decision months ago for the upgrade. I think the earlier you decide, the better it would be on everyone cause you're adding time by yourself for the upgrade.
I had the choice to rush order but I figured I didn't want to step on anyone's toes and I'd sit back and wait just like everyone else. I have more than enough to buy two fully upgraded tails but I honestly feel at this point, that would just be selfish taking up so much time for myself when everyone on here is waiting. So I shall wait too. Although it's a killer wait lol.
I've been a bit frustrated with the rush orders as well and I think a lot of others are too so I chose not to myself.
You guys are killing me with the rush order comments. While it's completely ok to lament the delay it's not ok to say/imply someone shouldn't have asked for a rush or was stepping on toes by doing so & even get mad at them for it.
Just so we're clear $500 is a lot of extra money to lay down for a rush but other than like everyone wanting their gorgeous tails asap there could be good reasons for it. Like perhaps trying to raise money for a dear friend who is battling cancer and cannot make any money as a full time nurse / part time burlesque performer like she was previously. She now has no income, insurance isn't covering enough & our friends want you & your new tail there at the fundraiser in a month & a half.

FYI I'm not opting for the upgrade. Also btw, I started working with the twins on this tail in October of last year (just checked my email records) but due to delays on BOTH sides we had to go for the rush in order for me to get it in time for the event.
I have to agree with you, Blaze. While it might seem unfair that a customer can jump ahead in line by paying $500, offering that option is FinFolk's decision. I don't think we should be upset by the customer who decides to pay that extra money.
And I realized why the individual scales kind of bother me: they stick out just enough to remind me of a fish in the early stages of dropsy (kidney failure). I've lost a few fish that way, and whenever I see scales like that, I'm conditioned to experience feelings of dread and impending doom! (But I'm probably the only person who would react that way, lol!)
Also, though a completely seamless tail is cool, visible seams don't bother me. Many fish actually have a vibration-sensing organ called a lateral line along the length of their body and tail, which looks for all the world like a seam in their skin!
Because my tail is like Theobromine's, the first one of his kind (with the dragon scales), I have visible seams but I honestly do not care. I actually like it this way.
Although I'm a perfectionist, I think it's okay to have some flaws as perfection does not exist. The individual scales are really cool and I'm happy for everyone who choose them. I'm looking forward to see the results. Make sure to share the updates and do an unboxing video just like mine ;)
Those scales are gorgeous! If finfolk tails are full silicone tails (no neoprene), then what are the scales attached to? A silicone body? And are they attached with more silicone?
Right, Theo, the FinFolk scales are definitely not full-on dropsy sticking out. But it reminds me of the early stages, when I'm looking at a fish going "OMG, is she starting to pinecone a little? Oh, no, no, NOOOOOO!!"
And BTW, Theobromine, as a diehard chocolate addict, I love your name!
Cascada, it looks to me like there's a full silicone tail with the individual scales adhered to it with more silicone.
Do all silicone tails have that mesh inside of them for strength? My Merbellas tail had mesh that the silicone was adhered to, so maybe they use the mesh as a base and attach the scales to that with silicone.
I have been sick all day today and my mood was close to become in the depressed stage because I'm gonna miss a lot of things gay pride-related this week-end BUT I just looked at my tail, felt it, touched it gently and all the good things that will happen with it in the future just made me feel better about myself :)
I guess a part of me was frustrated because I was expecting this event since months, I wanted my tail to be with me for this occasion which could have been a great thing to be noticed by a lot of people. I could have made my big debut in public as a merman today and being sick just ruined it
It's a yearly thing so what's done is done. I'm moving on and I'm working now on my acceptance into the public pools so I can swim with my performance tail.
I really want a finfolk tail after seeing the new scale upgrade video. It's amazing. I would just adore that.
I know Merbella tails have the pigment all the way through the silicone, which means it never ever ever can rub off. I worry that since these tails are painted after the tail is made that the color will eventually have to to be redone. I'd like to avoid that (especially if I'm planning on paying nearly 4000$ for a tail). Does this happen? Has anyone had one of their tails for month with near daily use? Years?
I think the mesh is to also make the tail less transparent in the body, so you can wear whatever color bottoms with the tail.
Coyote, I would guess that the pigments FinFolk uses are mixed with silicone, so when they spray it on, it bonds with the tail. It really doesn't look like a superficial paint job to me.
Arion, I'm sorry about how your day turned out. But you're right, with your fabulous new tail, great things are ahead for you!!
:gah::headwall:
So, I finally got a hold of some pictures of me in my tail and I posted them if anyone wants to see:

Looks great, Marlin!
I can't really speak for anybody else, but I wasn't trying to say or imply that no one should get an upgrade or rush order, I was simply stating that I am getting antsy because I have been wanting a high quality tail for a long time so I'm just overly excited for the wait to be over. The delays are just a bit of a bummer is all, but I am not mad at anyone and completely understand that stuff like this happens and people have the right to upgrades and even rush orders.
