That blue/black combo is just striking.

Beautiful! I love darker colored tails! Can't wait to see it finished~
Beautiful! I can't wait to see it swim!
Lorelei you're moving to Seattle? How awesome! A grew up there and come back to visit usually about twice a year :) Tail is looking great!!
Thank Q so much everyone! :D and yes maressa, I'll be moving in July and I'm soooo excited! Oooh, We need to plan a swim meet when you come up again sometime! :) (I still need to figure out what pools in Seattle will accept tails)
As another Seattle native, I'll say congrats on the move :) (Good thing you're doing it in July, too. Better weather).
I was just there last month to visit family and for a performance gig, and plan to come up again sometime in the late Summer. It would be lovely to meet you! And what a gorgeous tail! Can't wait to see any video you might get in the future. :D
Ahh, thank Q so much! ^^
Thank Q so much! :D I've been to Seattle many times, especially now that my cousin is going to the University there, and I love it every time (well, everything but the traffic, ugh)! It's a much easier drive from Seattle to my home in Sacramento than Moscow is and about about 3 hours shorter, which is going to be a nice change. I would definitely love to plan a meet up! :D
My friend and I plan on meeting up this summer to make a mermaid series on Youtube so there will be plenty of swimming videos on the way!
I just saw that they posted a picture of my fluke! :D I'm so excited, it's so close to being done and it looks so awesome up close!

I am so in love with your fluke colors, Lorelei! <3 It reminds me so much of the colors on my betta. :D
I messaged them yesterday asking if the fluke was a custom one for a customer, or a new one to their line, and if so I'd like to talk about changing my fluke to that one instead. I'm actually in Photoshop right now testing it out, haha!
They have a pretty tight timeline on my tail, the realistic fluke mold is still in MN so they're having in brought up Dec 17th, at which point they said my body and extra pieces should be done so they can just quickly assemble and paint it in time for Merfest... which kind of freaks me out since that's a short amount of time, and they said honestly they'd rather have a little more time to work on it since my paint job is crazy. So I'm torn- extend the deadline by a month and have a less rushed paint job, or get my tail at Merfest? :-/
I would say that's up to you. What's more important in this case? Getting a rushed tail to merfest or a quality tail to your home a month later?
If the girls said they would rather have more time, I would trust them. But that's just me.

I think I'm going to give them more time... it's just stressful because my first gig with it is January 30, an 8-hour dry event :P I was hoping to use January to prep for the gig and do test runs of being in the tail that long.
I don't have a finfolk, but Storm does and we do some gigs together, but if your tail is anything like hers, or mine (merbella/competitor) you will need breaks in tha 8 hours, do lots of stretches, eat some bananas for potassium, but you will be in pain either way you slice the cake after 8 hours in a tail, and possibly monofin blisters, just be prepared, bring pillows or something so you can shift well( if you are laying down and can get some cool mermaidy ones) if you are in a chair figure out how your fluke will lay because that can have a huge difference on how numb your feet go. But you will need a 30 minute break in there somewhere at least one just to stretch. That's just my opinion of seeing storm do a 3 hour gig on dry land, and doing a few longer gigs myself as well. If you are a master and already have your method then rock on
When I ordered my tail in august I was emailing them asking for what would be the fluke if I wanted the tail to stay as light as possible. They said back then that there would be a new fluke design, probably lighter than the others they had atm. I'm guessing this is it, hopefully :)
Thanks for the input, guys! :D
Harmony, it's a faire and we have three mermaid so we can rotate and take breaks all day. I ordered a size above my actual foot size I can wear neoprene boots to help with the mono fin... and bananas are an AWESOME idea!!! Thanks!
Rilarin hmmm. Interesting. I'm still waiting to hear back from the twins but if it's smaller, then I guess I'll stick with the realistic... I'm super tall so I wanted a BIG fluke and that's their biggest XD
by no means a master here btw... I appreciate all your help!!! :hail:
(sorry for posting so much today, I'm sick and have been bored in bed all day lol)
Just had a chat with the girls on Skype! They're wonderful! :D We decided that they're going to try and get the tail ready for Merfest, and just work at a steady pace- and if it's done, cool, if not they will finish it to get it to me at least by Jan 20th giving me 10 days to break it in before the Faire :) That way they're not rushing and I'm not stressing about having it in time for the faire. We also decided to stick with the realistic fluke because it's such a good shape for my design. ^_^ SO HAPPY!!!! :yay:
I remember doing a 6 hour event at the zoo where I live in my finfolk tail... let me just say I'll be so thankful for the other mers there to take turns with us lol! It does get a bit uncomfortable and I didn't get a break at all for those 6 hours!! Talk about crazy lol. I'm so excited to see what your tail will look like maressa!
Amelia and I did a six hour event in hour tails last month. Definitely agree. Take breaks! And see if you can move around as little as possible. And have somewhere comfy to sit! Lots of cushions. We didn't get breaks and we were sweaty and exhausted at the end. Also make sure you have shade and water and food!
