The thread is started! As this area of the boards was the origin of this recent dragon-discussion, I have elected to start the thread in this section. Here it is: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthre...ermaids-Mermen
Nice tail, Kelly. I love the warm orange and the fringes :D
Just finished!
I named it after the fabric I used, Aloha Tail.
I made a pocket thing like in the Magictail so I can take out my monofin. Got too over enthusiastic with the fluke, how I was not liking its shape so i cut and cut, now its too short! Next time I'll draw up a pattern for it.

Yay! New tail! I think the fabric will look awesome on :)

Wow; a Floral Mermaid! I admit I was a bit taken aback by it, for I am accustomed to scaly fish- or dragon- or cetacean-like merfolk, but the more I think about it the more I understand its cleverness.
It does look very Hawaiian and thus conjures up images of brightly-coloured sarongs and the ladies who wear them, and the fact that it is a mermaid tail rather than a dancer's skirt gives the impression of a meso-transformation. It makes me imagine a tropical sheltered bay, where a man or woman enchanted by your beauty discovers that the lovely woman with whom they fell in love earlier that evening has a "deep" secret...as her tail disappears beneath the moonlit waves.
Ireneho, I LOVE the Aloha Shirt-Tail! If you made a top from woven straw mats and leis, it would complete the theme!
I had lots of fabric leftover, so instead of keeping it away and letting it collect dust, I made another tail.
Aloha Tail 2.
Its also got pocket hole, and spine things that I sewn with thread.

Those "spine things" do give it a more fin-like appearance!
Oh, and I really like your new avatar pic; it's gorgeous and metallic, with a bit of a rainbow-fiery feel!
Just finished this:

front/belly rosé, back light blue. Fluke a bit lighter with white and see-through effect.
Dry tail I wear instead of trousers.
Adorable!

Is it heavy to walk in? Or did you make it for sitting?
I once modeled for hobbleskirt.com, and I must say that I am reminded a bit of one of those skirts, which at times were so tight that they were essentially walking mermaid tails. I quite like the look, though I must also say that it is more fun to be a mermaid.... :mermaid kiss:
It really looks like all your time and effort paid off. The whole thing looks great.
