Beautiful photos, everyone!
Not exactly a photoshoot, but I found and edited this clip from last year's Pod of the South meetup video into a gif. I think it turned out nicely.

Yay I got a photo back from a shoot I did back in September =) This was for a makeup artists final grade at college and for a competition submission =)
love the hair! your tail colors are beautiful
Hi,
I'm new to mermaiding. This is my first tail, which I made myself with fabric from fabricland.co.uk (I would not recommend this supplier as the colour washed out of the tail within an hour of being in the water!). I'm planning on making another with better fabric as soon as I can.
Photos were taken on holiday last November in the Red Sea, Egypt. I was very lucky to get the chance to interact with wild dolphins.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Wow! That's really cool for your first tail! Im sorry about the poor fabric quality. It looks scarily thin, too. I would be nervous to touch it against anything if the fabric on mine was that thin. :0
Thanks for sharing your pics, though! :)

Thanks :). Yeah the fabric is really thin! It also stretched a LOT and had to be altered as it never went back to the original size. It's a real shame as the colours were lovely when new. At least it stayed intact for the holiday. Can't imagine it'll last too much longer, but it's a learning process.
I love making things, so looking forward to making a better one. I have some ideas already, just need to find a better fabric supplier!
Absolutely! For my first fabric tail (and currently only tail) I used upholstery fabric which has worked beautifully. Next I want to try marine vinyl because I like the texture. I designed mine after a Snowflake Eel. :)

Ooo, that sounds nice!
You know you're the first to actually say that. All my pod here originally refused to swim with me once they heard I was an eel. ;~;

As if! Eels are great :).
I want to have a crack at making a neoprene one and painting it. A bit worried about how to counter the bouyancy though as surely it'll be rather floaty. It's a problem we had even in the normal fabric tails when we were in the red sea. You have to go quite deep to be neutral and we couldn't think of any way of hiding lead to stay down in shallower water. Needs a bit of research!
Pretty! Again, sad about the fabric quality.
And the snowflake eel tail sounds awesome.
Hm... Hiding lead... You could be a badass mer and have fishing lures stuck in your tail. But replace the fishing hooks with earring hooks so you don't accidentally stab yourself. Then bend them over so they don't fall out.
