GREAT NEWS MERFRIENDS! Some of you may remember that I lost my high school English teaching job last year partially due to being outed as a mermaid. Well guess what? I just got hired for a job much closer to my house actually teaching the subject I WANT to teach: Life skills for mild to moderate special needs kids!!! That is what I used to do as a TA and is the reason I became a teacher! So in the end I guess all the tears filled up an ocean, 'cause now I'm swimming in happiness! :D
Congrats!
Woo I got my tail today! AND a professional photographer wants to do a mermaid photoshoot with me FOR FREE just as long as she can watermark the pictures! Eeeee I'm one happy mermaid!
~Mermaid Sirenia~
I've been wanting to learn German for several months now, and yesterday whilst I was at Half Price Books I found a German phrasebook with a english-to-german dictionary and a german-to-english dictionary in the back of the book. And then earlier this morning I found an amazing youtuber who does amazing videos on how to learn German. :D
Turns out the local small-town mer I found is a high schooler and also on the swim team. I think she was excited to maybe get a new swimming buddy. Now to just get myself back into the swing of swimming to keep up. xD
Congrats on the new job!! Always great to find work doing something you're passionate about.
Being fired because of the mermaid thing is still just stupid. Some people have no since of adventure and awesomeness. Guess I should count myself as lucky...my boss has been asking about my progress on my tail.
Off to the pool for fin swim #2.
No leg cramp this time! Yay!! Taking those potassium pills was a bright idea!
@lokilove - YOOOOOO SIMILAR SIGNATURES! HIGH FIVE :D

Also in about two weeks I'm going to be swimming in a tail, fabric (If i can finish it on time), for the first time. And during that same trip the boyfriend is planning on proposing.
I got to talk with one of the places I turned in a job app at and found I'm one of the few who applied and that call backs won't be for another couple of weeks, but when talking the lady said she'd pull my app out to write down some notes and left with a smile on her face. It's not definite, but I'm feeling a little more hopeful about this place. *crosses fingers*
I survived my first swim in my tail last night. It was crazy heavy.
You can be fired for being a Mer??? :0 sheesh aren't teachers allowed to have personal lives? It's not like you were selling sea-crack or something. Wow. Congrats on finding a new job though :D
I am not going to try. It is having a wonderful life with the FinFolk ladies--it's gone amazing places!--and I have decided to make my own. I LOVED my Man O War tail, but it was not exactly as I wanted, through NO fault of Abby and Bryn. I am just really nitpicky about things (perfectionist in the house) and so I think making my own will be the best path toward my perfect tail!
Technically, no. If that was the reason they fired me, I could sue them. I was doing nothing wrong and they legally can't tell me to shut down a small business. But I was not on contract, so they didn't have to give a REASON for "letting me go." They just suddenly started writing poor administrative reviews after "the mermaid incident" and boom, contract not renewed.
