Such beautiful flow!
Thanks:) Right now the color is poo, but it's a good base for what I plan on doing.
quickest fluke construction ever. Good for you!
Lol thanks:) I'm not trying to rush, it's just my only summer project! And I still need to fix the seams and cut off excess.
Scale template test mold! It's made of ultracal 30. I forgot to put vaseline on the edge of the cardboard so it it stuck to it, and I just realized I took the photo upside down.

Great job with the fluke! It's hard to make an h2o style fluke so, props :)
Great job! Your scale test came out perfect! How do you like ultra cal vs shell shock?
Your teeny silicone fluke is so cute...you should make it into a silicone Barbie tail. :) my kids love playing with the leftover silicone scraps...I can only imagine how much they would love a real Barbie tail! I might have to make them one if I have any silicone leftover.
i can't wait to see what you do next!
Ultracal 30 was so simple to work with. You simply mix it up with water until the right consistency and pour it on. Within 30 min it heats up and sets as hard as a rock. It also didn't make a mess like the shell shock did. I was also unhappy with my test mold because there are millions of teeny air bubbles. Probably because I didn't seal the test model and foam is porous. Also are you using an airbrush to paint your tail? If so, what kind, and how do you get the color to actually process through the airbrush, it's always so thick. And do you know if the fluke takes up more silicone, or the scales?
I'm not using an airbrush. Hand painting is working really well though and you can fix imperfections in the silicone as you paint. I haven't poured my scale sheets yet ( I'm still scraping bits of foam out) but I know that my sheets will take more silicone than my fluke. I used about 6 cups (3a-3b) for each fluke half. It's a little thin so I will probably add a little extra to the back around the monofin. In any case I'm taller than you (5'6") and my scale sheet is longer so I can cover my feet (my fluke starts at my toes). Your fluke looked thin like mine so I would assume that your scale sheet would take up a little more than your fluke. If you want to know exactly how much silicone to measure out you can fill your mold with water(measure as you fill) and divide the amount by half for part a and part b.
good luck!
Hmmmm Scales I suppose....

Nice, you have SO much talent!
Tyvm!:)))
this is looking GREAT! :D
all i can 'say' is ::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:
Wonderful job!!! Did you back your scale sheet up with any fabric? I'm using power mesh but I haven't tested it yet.
How thick did you cast your sheet? One of my scale tests came out very thin in between the scales and with a few tiny holes. When I painted it though it came out perfect so I trying to figure out how thick I should cast the sheet. Any tips?
I'm so impressed! Your progress is amazing!!!
I did not back it up with anything. It is thick enough, I'd say about an inch. It came out a little transclucent but once I paint it everything should be fine.
Still love that fluke, Jazz. And the scale look great. I have to agree, you are very talented :3
