I love the blue tail!
I watched all 13 episodes the first night!
People do not understand that this is a SPIN OFF, not a SEQUEL.
Season 2 and season 3 of H2O: Just Add Water were sequels.
This is a whole new series with similar rules for the new mermaids or mermen. You have mermaids that were born mermaids, and you have the mers that were created by the moon pool. So far that is just Zac.
I believe there will be a season 2. Some of the clips in the trailer were not in season 1. Like when Cam asks, "You really do have a tail." and the mermaid replies, "What did you expect, a propeller?"
Also, Zac tells Cam that the principal is a mermaid. That was in the trailer, but not anywhere in season 1.
So, I can not wait for season 2.
I am totally saving up for one of those orange tails!
Ha! Yes! I totally was right to theorize that merlings could be born from moon pool mermaids and not all of them were moon-made then!!!!! That theory was a total shot in the dark! This fanfic writer is pleased!
seems like they are filled with soft closed cell foam. If it is around the knees I doubt they can sit with the knees bent much.
merman jesse, in september they will air episodes 13 to 26 of season one. its not finished.
i found a new link without the annoying subtitles , episode 1
enjoy!

I want to know how they explain mermaid procreation cause Rite said in either the 11th or 12th episode that noone has seen a merman in centuries.
Really glad to hear the next 13 will come out in September. I was wondering all morning why there were only 13 episodes and the articles all said they weree contracted for 26. Glad it won't be another full year to wait for that.
Well, it's obvious, to me anyway, that mermaidism is a dominant gene that is somehow canceled out by the Y chromosome (SRY gene maybe). They just make more mermaids by mating with humans. Even though a mermaid might be heterozygous for the trait, she still sprouts a tail in the same way that a person has her mom's brown eyes despite daddy having recessive blue ones. It also might be that Zac has Klinefelter syndrome (XXY, very rare!), so only one of his X chromosomes were silenced by the Y ;) My crazy biology theory anyway.
And that explanation, my lovely fishies, is what hitting rock bottom with geekery looks like. I need to stop or keep drinking. I'm not sure.
Haha, no. I love your theory!
It explains why there are almost no mer-men, but lots of mermaids, and mergays ;)
(joking, please don't hate)
ok, not done with the series yet, but I'm not really sure I personally relate to any of the characters. not that it makes it any less enjoyable to watch. i'm on episode ten I think. ten or eleven. I am really enjoying the series. although I dislike their extended tail look. to me, it just doesn't seem natural. looks tooooo long. that and I dislike Zac, or his character at least. but I'm enjoying the overall series too much to let one disliked character and a tail style stop me from watching. I look forward to the rest of the season! and hopefully season 2!
I like the show, though I'd hoped for a little connection to the original. There are definite continuity issues, and though they don't call it a continuation, I'd like to know a few details they're not giving.
Did anyone else notice that last name of the actree who plays Lyla? Fry. lol Like baby fish. :D Cute.
The show, too, for me, is mostly just cute. Enjoyable, but not something I'll watch over and over like I did H2O.
I'm actually glad they didn't mess with the original. *hugs the original mers + Lewis like squishy plushies*
I really like the mermaids. Zac I'm on the fence about. Cam I just always have this desperate desire to beat his snug face into a bloody pulp. Zac's girlfriend is so overly sweet I'm having trouble not hating her. I usually only react to characters that negatively when they are like the character Charlotte was on h2o. Somehow those 2 characters just make me as mad as Charlotte no matter what.
What I really line is Rita. For once a show/movie of any sort actually showing a Mermaid that isn't a tween. Being a 33 year old mother of 4 Mermaid I LOVE that they finally made a Mermaid with life experience.
As for the merprocreation... I love the theory and say drink some more and send me loads more theories! That was a great one Varshana!
Yep, only half of the first season has been released for now. Some of the scenes in the trailer confused me but I can actually see how they'll end up playing out. I am SO excited just you ijfnjhfdjj IT'S INSANE.
Personally I love Cam. :P He's definitely got his annoying moments but I do think he's taking everything really well up until the end, which again I don't blame him for because he's with Zac and it's really easy for me to see how he feels and how he reacts.
I do think that Rita is a very unique, great add to the show. I am just SO EXCITED I DON'T EVEN KNOW.
Why do people always hate characters? You have to look in that characters shoes and see how they feel and react. Also, they aren't trying to replace the old series and old characters. Don't worry. They are creating something new, and fresh. Just using old ideas and things. I think mermaids are probably born from magic.... Since this is, a popular family friendly show..... (going back to old characters, none of these characters are the same, they are different characters with different views, emotions and reactions and even backgrounds.) Going back to H2O: Just Add Water. They are probably in the same universe as the previous mermaids from the last series but here is the catch. There were no mermaids guarding Mako Island back then. Probably because during those times the pod didn't live there or lived somewhere else, or maybe they just even fell into the merpool and the pod had to leave because they broke the mermaid law. Who knows but I wish the old cast would make cameos, or be mention in the new series, but it currently seems that they aren't going to be sacknowledge the world in the last series. I really wish the rumor about Rikki's Dinner was true that it was still there, but that rumor was false. :( I like how they used the old set and redecorate Rikki's Diner, but I honestly kinda felt sad seeing redecorate. it made me feel old. ;A;
If I hate anyone its that snotty blonde girl who thinks she oldest, shoe shes better, smarter, and cooler then everyone. No one listens to Nixie cuz she is the youngest, even though she is totally the smartest of the three! I really love Rita. I liked how they introduce a person with all the answers, and who can be a mother like character to the girls, to give the more feel good family feel. xD Also do the fact they have a character like that they could make even more episodes of crazy adventures, but honestly I kinda liked how the old cast was more independent but I like this new aspect they put into the new series. Also going back to the old series, mako always kinda a mind of its own. Trying to get a boy to fall into the moon pool left and right, but why? Well now were finding out. Also Rita acknowledges the fact that mako has a mind of its own, and does its own thing... or maybe its the triton. Who knows? I just think its interesting how the series kinda connect in the aspect, and in this aspect. xD!
Sorry..... That's just my two cents! D'X Trying not to spam!
I like to think the old characters moved on and are having more adventures, figuring out the mermaid thing independently elsewhere in the world :) They're probably going to school. I like to think Cleo moved to the US to be with Lewis and eventually will have merbabies of their own (as it will be with Bella and Will), and Rikki traveled with Emma once she returned to the Gold Coast to figure out where to go from graduation. But I'm a romantic like that ;)
I....Watched all thirteen episodes in two days....
I'm now anxiously awaiting September.
I love:
Rita
Sirena
David
I get annoyed by:
Zac
Evie
Cam
I think it's hilarious when:
The girls make Rita mad
one of the girls doesn't get a human reference
they try to use a human device and fail
Zac gets caught cheating by Rita
We'll probably never be told outright. In many traditions, mermaids are thought to mate with humans to make more mermaids, and I just bullshit a bunch of biology to make that make sense :) We're never going to know how the couples' from the old cast's kids are going to turn out (tail or no tail). I don't think how mermaids are born has anything to do with how family friendly this show is, since I highly doubt the humans in the H2O universe come from the stork ;) Australians don't have the same uptight sentiments toward that stuff like the US. Remember when Cleo told her dad to give Kim "The Talk" when she had a bunch of boys vying for her attention? Yeah. Everyone knows what kind of "talk" she was referring to XD
Personally I like that they haven't connected the 2 shows as of yet. It gives more freedom in the writing. Rikki is a regular on Dance Academy right now so I doubt she had time for cameos. As far as hating characters they are written that way. I mean clearly the point of "villains" or close to it style characters that is why they are written. Who would like Cruella DeVille ya know. Cam isn't a total villian its morethe smug look he does that irritates me. As for the pod and h2o... It can be explained many different ways from the pod being elsewhere to them just being invisible when the girls were there to even we were showed the merworld from the point of view of cleo emma and rikki not any other view.
One thing bugging me about the tails is the butts on the. Both Mixie's tail and Zac's seem like thery have way to much room in the rump. In the Dolphin tale episode and the 13th episode they show full profiles of them and there is like a 2-4 inch gap at the waist above the rear end as they swim. Weird looking.
I saw that Zac's was gapping (I'm thinking maybe as the season went on his bodyweight there changed) but I haven't noticed it with any of the girl's yet. It was CONSTANTLY like that in the old series so I am glad that at least it's better this time, even if only slightly. The gap was the main issue with the tails it seemed in the old series, every shot of Emma, Cleo and Rikki there was a gap.
Personally...I'm glad the characters have good and bad traits to them all. Lyla is really the main character I don't really like, but I think she's intended to have those little annoying things about her, haha. Same with Evie. I understand how Evie feels about Zac and Lyla as it goes on but in the beginning I think she's just being wayyy overbearing/jealous.
I noticed that tail gap over the bum, too, on Nyxie and Zach. It's distracting and surprising because I never saw that problem on the original series. Maybe they have a different FX crew on this one.
No, it's the same. JMBFX Studios, I'm sure.
DERP. It's the same studio anyway, MAYBE a different crew but tbh I think it's more just the fit of the tails. In H2O the tails start out fitting perfect but as it goes on they gap more.
I didn't notice it but once in the first series. I think they changed the design too. The foot plate seems to be gone and replaced with a block of some sort. Since there are supposed to be a lot of tails as there is a pod of mermen later on from what I have seen I think they might have made the changes in construction due to having to make more tails. I know they said the scaling alone took 2 people over a week to scale each tail on the h2o tails. Also the scales on the tops seem to be gone and purely silicone not over acrylic scaling. I like the way Zac's tail is colored I like that everyone doesn't have that repetitive amber orange tone. The tails look a little shorter too. I think all the changes are only logistical for production time. Which is why the gapping above the rear could have been missed in the rush to finish up. Which they could have used the time they spent wasting on putting cgi fish in the water covering and fixing up the gap in the tails instead.
Really? I haven't really noticed any differences, but it seems like the tails are the same to me. I've seen scales on the tops, too. I dunno, I've been looking pretty close at the details and stuff (but maybe not as close as you). The tails seem to swim the same way imo, and look about the same.
CGI fish? o_O Where's that?
They are the kind of fish dory from finding nemo was. Randomly put in around them as they are swimming around as mermaids. Always in the foreground.
I also noticed the flukes aren't translucent like was the h2o tails were at the tips of the fins.
Arent they working with a lower budget? Look at the merpool, and the tails. Then look again at the old ones. They are doing the best they can with their budget and I appareciate that. The mertailsl are alittle bit different and abit of a lower quality but im okay with that. :)
I just made a signature! It's my first on MN. What do you think ^^!
If they make a Splash remake, I can totally see the girl who plays Sirena as Madison! She just has that look!
I made a few posts on my page giving my takes of this series. One of the first things I noticed right off the bat was their acting ability. It needs some work. I felt like some of the lines were forced or misdirected. Here are the links from my page with the reviews I have given so far:

Well that started with a website, which is cool. Also Netflix has been kinda low in money, the price went up abit, and I think now they are trying to gain money by buying the rights to series. Lets say Nickteens buy the rights again for the show, or someone tries to out buy Nick. Since, they are very competitive and rude. Since Nick has always had it out for other companies, and doesn't like to give them screen time, including during the awards. First person to so much as buy the rights to air it on t.v will give Netflix a large amount of money. Lol. Netflix is stepping up in the world.
