I got some shots done at Merfest, by photographer Susan Knight...I composited two shots to make this image...they are low res screenshots, and a down and dirty retouch, but you get the idea.

How did you make your fluke look so... Fluid?
It's an amazing photograph nonetheless, you look so comfortable.
That is SO gorgeous, Pearlie!
Thanks! I really like it. I can't wait to get the high res files!
I did photos with her too. I wasn't very impressed with my pics. I really wanted full body pics of my tail and tried to communicate that and push for it but most are the same portrait that I didn't really want to do from the beginning.
I got my small res proofs over a week ago and had originally paid for two. I made my selections but haven't heard back yet.
I feel kinda meh about the experience. She was very nice, kind, and professional. But the photos were really unflattering of me and I was hoping for more focus on my new tail. A lot of the proofs I was sent were ones I would of deleted off the camera if we were doing the photos.
But I had really amazing photos the year before for free. You win some, you lose some.
Sean took amazing underwater photos of me on christomer s camera. I was so proud of them but I knew wed probably never see them and I was right. Last year a whole card of peoples underwater photos went 'missing' and people never got them. I expected the same thing to happen this year and since sean was worried about flooding the camera we didn't make copies of the pics. So Chris has em somewhere in digital land with last years missing photos.
Susans photos seem to be hit or miss this year. I'm not sure if it was the pool conditions or the schedule or what. A few people weren't happy with theirs.
But I'm glad Pearlie found one she likes and it is so awesome to showcase her stunning tail. I saw it in person. Photos rarely do it justice!!!
I kinda feel the same, I have maybe two half-decent photos, one has the fluke half out the water and the other is a portrait-reflection shot that doesn't even show my tail and I really wanted photos to profile my tail as it was my very first tail swim.
I just feel a bit bleh about the experience too. But I also can't really complain cause I was entirely late for my shoot due to taking too long heat-setting my tail before I got a lift to the pool with the others, and Susan managed to fit me in, when she didn't have to.
I'm also a perfectionist graduate photographer so my standards are going to be higher xD
anyways didn't want to start any drama or derail, just thought I would share that I feel the same. Replied with my image choice the other day and not heard back yet either.
My take on the splash tail!
I am pretty happy with it :)

Wow I was behind on this thread. Everyone looks so beautiful. I love these group shots some people are able to do.
LOL..I just had to giggle at this, b/c I feel the same way. Being a photographer, I know exactly how I want my photos to look. This is why I usually have my hubby try just so that I can edit and have freedom to do whatever to the photos. I am lucky to have some great photographer friends who do a great job. But its like with anything, when you do it well and know how you like it, that sets the standard very high and if you feel like it didn't come out as good as if you could have done it, then that leads to disappointment. Seriously wish I could clone myself sometimes... LOL
we need a support group for bellydance/photographer/mermaids or something ;)
Here are a few photos from our super fun, swan-themed library program last week. They are just captures from a video, but they turned out pretty well. (Good enough for our website, anyway)!
