That Awkward Moment When: Mermaid Edtion!

Yeah. I was trying to keep my comments really sparse, I swear. I didn't realize how much I had responded until I finally got through to this page. Whew! And sorry! SO sorry. :( I just joined a few days ago. I swear I'm not trying to be a heel.

And that sounds like fun, Dan! I haven't gone in ages. Not sure it'd be my scene any more, but I think it's great that's what you want to do. I just have problems with confined places and large crowds pushing in on me. I don't give a fig in the water because my mind is in the water, but don't give me air to breathe, and I shrink.

That awkward moment when... you get stuck in your jeans while putting them on, and the first thing that goes through your mind is that you need more conditioner.

That awkward moment when you are making house rules for your new home and all you think of is "DON'T BE A PUBLIC POOL BITCH"

TAMW you're walking ahead of your Mum and she comments whilst other people are around, "Your pants is so big. Did you get the right size?"
TAMW you stop walking and tugs the jeans and show her the massive gap, "I lost weight"
TAMW she mumbles, "It must be the swimming"
TAMW one feels stares all the way down the street to the traffic lights!

TAMW you're officially known as the "tattooed mermaid" at the tattoo shop you always go to

TAMW you're at said shop getting a tattoo done when your tattoo artist and the other artist working start talking about your mermaiding and what's been going on, while the other guy getting a tattoo done and his friend are just sitting there confused

TAMW you're doing a shoot at the beach and a family walks by with mystified kids, you look and wave, they all smile except one who as such conflict on his face, he stutters out... "I... I can see the knees" as a kind of question and you have to hold in your laugh. Lol

TAMW you talk about buying a sex toy cleaner for your tail and your disney coworker is like "LOLWHUT?" then you have to explain that it's silicone and requires gentle cleaning that a sex toy cleaner gives.

Yeah. I don't get that one either. Why were people SO against Aquamarine? When I saw the advertisement, I was determined to watch it, despite disgruntled reviews. I've never been able to get enough of the mer-world, always fascinated by it, never able to be a part of it. (Until recently, when I discovered how real mermaids are.) I wasn't disappointed that I recall. (Life has happened since. It's been a while since I've been able to watch it.) I'd have jumped for the steal of a deal too!

I feel the same way about my Date With An Angel DVD; it was a legendary flop, but I really like it for some reason....I wonder what that says about me...lol :thinks:

Yes, Michelle! My husband and I are 32 and 33 respectively. (I'm the younger of the two of us.) Yesterday, I was talking about how we are "past our prime" when it occurred to me that we are actually still very young. I don't know if it has any thing to do with how judgmental of age this society seems to be or because of some serious trauma we've been through over the past half-decade. But we really are NOT that old! When you think about it, people are living longer and longer these days. There are many who have made it to a whole century. And even they are young compared to the age of the earth itself.

TAMW you have performed at said festival for the past seven years as a pirate with- you know- legs, so all your friends/fans freak out, thinking something horrible has happened and you are now wheelchair bound.

tamw your younger sister buys you a mermaid manga illustrated and written by junko mizuno (one of your favourite illustrators) and you open the book. suddenly.. boobies, sex, and eating of flesh.

tamw you know you still have to include it in your mer-library.

SeaGlass Siren, your experience is much like one of my earliest anime experiences! I was only 16 and just starting to delve deep into anime thanks to the inspiration of Sailor Moon, thus I searched a relatively-local video store for any other anime I might enjoy. Spotting Rumiko Takahashi's Mermaid Forest, I thought to myself, Cool! A mermaid-anime done in the style of Ranma 1/2! Maybe the mermaids will be as beautiful as those in (one of my favourite new video games) Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen! One quick examination of the blurb on the back of the box revealed that the Japanese have an unpleasant legend that eating the flesh of the ningyo (mermaid!) makes humans immortal! :jawdrop: :crazy:

Then, a few months or so later, I discovered that the same legend was prevalent in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen.... :no-no::doh::sweat drop::help::anger explode::gah::shark:

ah the same manga artist as inuyasha! i forget her name but i know who you mean! this one though the mermaids do eat the sailors instead of the other way around

TAMW you are on the phone with your insurance company trying to get your tail insured and you are explaining what exactly the item you are trying to insure IS and the insurance representative on the line just sits in stunned silence for an inordinate amount of time and then says, "um, I am going to have to let you speak with one of the managers. I have no idea how to categorize that."

TAMW you're telling your husband about wanting to see the Merlesque mermaids at the Merfest this weekend, and he says "This is getting a bit 'smurfy'." So you reply "Well, as long as merverts don't merv out on all the merfolk at the merfest, it'll be merrific!"

TAMW you forget you have legs and kind of wiggle stupidly across the pool deck to get your phone.

awkward moment when you're looking through the videos your mother took with you in your tail but keeps on being such a mom. i'll probobly post the videos with music but examples were like

"i dont know if i got it...wait its going! go"

"hi sara!!!! or... whats your internet name?"

That awkward moment when you see an advertisement on TV for some place or event and it starts with a mermaid swimming and the advertisement graphic has a photo of a mermaid in it too and then you start thinking about the other mermaid advertisement you saw for the local seafood shop and then you start feeling like you are missing out on a lot of good local promotional things that could use a mermaid. :jawdrop:

It has been so weird how all of a sudden there are local TV commercials with a random mermaid in them. Also, I want to know who these local mers are so that I can swim with them!
