They just posted they won't be producing new mythics until early 2019. They will focus on silicone tail orders and fabric tails until then.

Wow, Mermaid Hunter... I sure hope your tail has been shipped, or at the very least an update given. I was trying to decide between Merbellas or Finfolk if I get a silicone tail; but since this was so recent I'll probably end up going to Merbellas, or waiting for a while until things at Finfolk calm down. My heart goes out to everyone who has been waiting for a while on their tails, especially with the high cost; as well as the twins, from everything I've read here things have been crazy chaotic, I hope things mellow out (for everyone). Hang in there!
Sorry, been away on honeymoon and Fourth of July vacation. Did get an update with pictures in my email and need to review it but think things are finally resolved. Will let you know before the weekend........

I think the twins might have overbooked themselves. From what I know, they're still doing one Mythic tail, the Te Fiti tops and the fabric tails. Even though they're on schedule, it's still a lot of work on top of any silicone tail jobs they might have.
On that note, 50 months is a really long time! You're so patient. I bought a fabric tail in May and I'm getting jittery just waiting for it to come.

I got the Aqua Fairy fabric tail from Finfolk when they released their line in May! It's the blue and purple tail. I'm so excited for it but they'll probably still take another month or so.Quote:

Well finally got around to reviewing the two pics they sent and writing back to them.
They aassured me that my one paint concern was taken care of and painted and that it was due to lighting that it looks lighter. Guess we'll see.....
My other concern was a fin on the underside that was on a drawing but was crossed off, text added to remove it and highlighted so it stood out. Not sure if it can be removed at this point.

Anyone heard anything about the fabric tails? Last update was on Sunday saying that they were gonna start sending them out yesterday. So far, nothing, and people are still asking when they’re gonna send them out. My boss at my second job (a scuba shop) keeps asking when I’m gonna get my new tail so I can get in the pool with some of the classes, but I keep having to tell him that I don’t know because they keep having to delay the shipping.
If the girls and team at finfolk are behind schedule, it’d be a lot less frustrating if they’d admit it, rather than saying things and not being able to follow through.
I have not heard anything or got a shipping notification. The only things I know I know from their Instagram posts, and hearsay in the comments of said posts.
Ouch! I'm sure there are things that suck worse than your tail not being ready on schedule, but it's a very short list. They always say not to book anything until the tail is actually with you, and incidents like this show why.Quote:

My old tail, which was one of the last few grotto tails aquatails made, has officially been retired, as the neoprene at the end of the fluke has started falling apart after four years of intense usage. The footpockets on the competitor fin have also gotten a bit worn out. So I unfortunately don’t have a tail to use in the meantime.
You can wear out the foot pockets in a competitor? How long does that take to happen? And is it just they become over sized for your feet? Never heard of this before!Quote:

Dang! It might be luck of the draw for me because the competitor in my Merbellastudios tail is in fantastic shape. I got it in 2013 and used it a ton, nearly 5 times a week during one summer in particular. I actually had no idea that straps breaking was common :o
I switched to others. not only are they impossible to fix, they dont fit in standard luggage and flukes cant be folded
Katie- our Blue one is the same age and it's broken, our she creature we bought with broken straps :(
my original splash tail the straps didn't break but the fin snapped down the middle

Oh that sucks, Raina!! I know you always loved the power and stiffness you had with the competitor, in the past I'd always dreamt I'd go that route with a future silicone tail but as of late I'm realizing I'm not strong enough for it either. :p
Raina, do you still swim in your She-Creature tail with the broken Competitor straps? I'm actually making a silicone tail now with a Competitor and was considering cutting off the straps to make it easier to put on. I know Raven made a tail recently and cut off the straps on the competitor and she said it didn't inhibit swimming.
I actually find the she creature really hard to swim in because I swim OUT of it. The last time I used it was in November in the florida springs. and if I kicked too hard I could kick it off. I think if it was made more to my measurements it might stay on better (it's too short for me and a bit wide- bought it used)
I really would love to hire raven to remake it for me, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
Anyway, didn't mean to sideline this thread! Back to finfolk
70% of the time when I swim I get lazy and don't use my Finnis trainer straps (same foot pocket style as the competitor), rather I just step over the backs of them. Its totally doable and you're able to swim just fine when your tail is properly made to your measurements. The only thing that I do not like about not using the foot straps is that you don't feel like you have AS much control.. the foot pocket area just tends to slide around a bit. This makes my ankles feel a bit more strained and it causes a bit more rubbing/ blister action if you're not wearing socks. But its so nice to not have to try and pull on those freaking straps sometimes hahaha. That's my two cents!Quote:

Same. I’m just frustrated because every time they say something, they go and contradict what they’ve just said a few minutes later. And it took a few rant posts for them to admit that they’re much more behind schedule than they’re letting on. Last I heard from someone was that they’re now saying it’s gonna take over two more weeks for the presale, and they were saying the current sale was shipping in two weeks as well.
I need my new tail for my job, and basically it looks like I won’t have it for my job.
