Wow cool!
they seem very comfortable. I wish I had money for one xD
@Mermaid Claudia - They really are cute aren't they? I'm getting one soon as the new sizes come in. I love that shape, haven't seen one in a similar shape in another brand.
Haha thanks. I know I need to work on my technique tho. I can't do any tricks. XP So many of the oceanika vids on youtube are of kids tho and you don't really get to see how pretty it moves in the water. I wanted this monofin because of the shape but as soon as I saw it move in the water I was like "OMG! THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS ONE" lol so I figured other people should see it too.
After seeing Coyote's video I really need to go swimming in mine. Arghh. Tomorrow. I will somehow get to the pool tomorrow.
Yes I did, and they are helping a bunch.
The finis socks work pretty well for my friend who is on swim team.

I went swimming in my merfin, and oh my goodness it is such a dream to swim in. Waay faster then the monofin in my magictail. Definitely making a tail for this baby.
Edit: Sorry for double posting. :p
I wonder what kind of power you can get out of the MerFin without the V cut into it...
@ CoyoteWalker, such a cool video, you can really see the pretty flow of the fin ! It looks like you can get quite some propulsion out of it even though it's made of rubber. I can't wait for mine to arrive, but shipping to Europe takes a while :(
Can someone give me dimensions of the large? I'll upload an image in a second with the dimensions I'm looking for...

I know its a lot, but I'd really appreciate it. I'm making a skin to use for a dry performance and I'd eventually like to get a Merfin but for the performance I was just thinking about using a cardboard cutout.
Other option is if you could just give me the overall height and width (1&2 in the image) I could just have it printed to scale and use the picture as my actual template for a pattern.
Someone posted a pic, its the about the same size as the Finis Competitor.
Sorry! I tried looking for it but couldn't find it. Maybe someone else can help you better.
I found a site that supposedly has the dimensions... Coyote, I'm just wondering if you'd check the with and length against your medium. The site claims the medium is 27.4 inches by 29.5 inches. If it is correct I'm going to assume that the dimensions of the large are also correct and I'll just have a picture of the fins printed to scale.
Do you still need someone to do it? I can if you like. That is if I can find something to measure with.
I would really appreciate it!
Alrighty here you are: 1. 28 inches
2. 32 inches
3. 6 inches
4. 15 in
5. 20 and 3/4 in
6. 11 in
7. 6 and 1/2 in
8. 4 in
9. 13 and 3/4 in
10. 17 and 1/4 in
11. 18 in
Hope that helps!
You. Are. Amazing! Thank you so much! I really truly appreciate it.
Sorry! I've been busy/sleeping cuz I work crazy hours! Glad someone could help!
I don't know if anyone is following Mahina Mermaid on Instagram, but on a photo they posted recently one of their fins looks really orange. It's probably just a pink fin in different lighting combined with a filter but it looks so tangerine. Probably nothing but I figured it was worth posting.
If anyone is wondering about the picture, to look at the fin, it's the one with the blue car in it.
Maybe its one of their new colors?
I'd love an orangey color a lot more than the pink. I keep hoping they'll start selling the Merfins in the US so I won't have to cave in & do the $65 shipping from Australia. But you're probably right that it's just the photo lighting. Either that or it's Mahina's personal fin. The fin and tail she wears is gold-orange, and her fin is a little more elaborate than what they sell. But I didn't think her fin separated from her tail.
I finally gave in and ordered my Merfin off the official website instead of waiting for Carla's Swimwear to get them in stock again. Shipping is more expensive and slower, but at least now I'm guaranteed to have it in 2-3 weeks. I can't wait!
Even though I already have another brand of fin, I still want one in either red or purple!
So they posted again, this time a picture with lots of little tiny pictures in it, and it is really starting to look like it is a tangerine merfin. It could just be the filter again, but I think she used a different one. Also it's not her tail since two fins and the tail are lined up in one of the pictures.
I dunno. Just thoughts
I'm not on Instagram. Can you post some of the pics?
If you go to her website and look on the navigation bar on the left you can see all the pictures. You might have to scroll down just a bit.
Used the merfin for the 1st time today. It was pretty awwwwesome :D
Happy for you Mermaid Silver!
Here are some pictures of the orange fin if anyone is interested. Attachment 19383 Attachment 19393 Attachment 19394
Edit: I don't know how to make the photos smaller sorry!
Looks like the pink one in weird lighting. But I sort of like it too. :P
Well they just posted this on instagram: Attachment 19424
If you can't read the caption it says "Are you getting excited?? We are!! Adult size #MahinaMerFins are on the horizon!!"
So what do you guys think? If the size of the whole fin, not just the footpocket is bigger than that of the kids fin, it must be huge! Also I can see a lot more women wearing orange rather than pink. I'm bot sure about the leggings though...
So excited! Cannot wait to order the larger fins for my teen/adult mer skins :)
Woo! I'm not sure about the leggings either. The whole reason I wear a skirted swimsuit is to hide my tummy and butt, and those leggings don't hide anything!
Today is has been officially two weeks, the minimum estimated arrival time, since I ordered my Merfin, so it should be coming any day now! I'M SO EXCITED!
It looks way bigger than the Wave!
At long last my Merfin arrived last Monday! So far I've taken it swimming twice and I am in love with it! It's so much bigger and stiffer than my last monofin, it really propels me through the water. Even the lifeguards noticed it is faster. My lap time is down from 30 seconds to 20.
The only downside is it's a bit big in the foot pocket, so I was struggling to keep it from rubbing against my ankles and giving my blisters. Instead I got a blister AND bruises form how hard I was tensing my feet to keep them in place. Some sock and sock liners stopped the blister from getting worse, but now I have to wait for the bruises to heal. That's a temporary fix though, I need to buy some neoprene socks. Any suggestions? What brands do you guys wear to swim in?
I bought several pairs of neoprene socks for Christmas but I haven't worn them otherwise I could tell you whether or not the brand is a good one or whether to avoid it. My spandex socks prevented it pretty well though. :P
I believe the neoprene socks I got were by finis and they got holes in them pretty quick, but i might just be unlucky :/
