This Montrose Merman is nothing more than a whingy bundle of insecurity, bitterness and resentment. He hates on the mercommunity because he failed at trying to fit in (a bit hard to do when you're being an illogical crybaby).

This is all it is. He loves mermen. He wanted to be a merman. But he came in with an attitude and poor social skills and got shut down. So, his only way to retaliate is with snarky comments, defamation, slut-shaming and mysoginy because he's too immature to deal with his issues in the proper manner.

I have full control of her page so she thankfully has not seen these types of posts!
We have sat down and discussed these types of situations but I'm still glad I have full control!

[shudders] This thread is useful but also terrifying! It makes me sick to remember that there are people like that in the world. I get very nervous around these sorts of messages (all those years of watching Criminal Minds did me no favors lol!)

Always go with your gut when deciding whether or not to block people. Don't let yourself feel violated for the sake of someone else's amusement. And be safe!!

^^ Never feel badly for blocking people or unfriending them. Back when I had a FB, it always felt SO GOOD to hit that "unfriend" button. Like cleaning something gross away.

Either way he is super creepy and will non stop ask you about mermaiding, and won't take no for an answer if you say you aren't interested in him that way. Unfortunately I'm not sure what to do myself, since I'll be going to college with him this fall I don't want anyone to have issues with me or to have issues with anyone (at least not for a while, I know sometimes that's unavoidable)

You can report him to your course coordinator. Tell them you're having an issue with another student and tell them what he's been doing. I did it with a ate dent a few years back who kept making degrading sexist and racist remarks.

I solved it. I got him to back off from the mers (hopefully) haha

The name sounds familiar, and most of you are friends with him on FB.

I'm asking because, as far as I can see, there are only pictures of mermaids and not a single image of him, even in his profile.
I normally decline people who put not themselves in their profile pictures and only have a big collage of others.

I was friends with him before I realized he doesn't have any pics then I just deleted

Whelp, Gordon Shagene's ten-thousand profile's have been steadily liking my mermaid page now. :rolleyes:

We'll see whether or not I go through the effort to block him. If he doesn't comment, say, or do anything on my actual page, then whatever, makes it easy on me.

Having someone creep on you is not fun or something to wish for. It makes you feel disgusting and violated, and can make you feel very unsafe - not loved and admired at all. Be thankful you can't share in this experience.

You're right. I shouldn't take this lightly.

Unfortunately I have learned over the year's "I have had a few stalkers myself in my years". It doesn't matter what community your in, be it Mermaids, Motorcycle, Comic conventions or even Doctor/Dentist communities/gathering Etc etc.. There will always be those creepy 5 percent in which are socially challenged, "Merverts" or just really overly obsessed and creepy about one specific thing. The main thing is to keep your group of friends tight and look out for each other.

Hi Frazzy626 i so agree with you, i havent had any merverts bother me but tonite one chose to threaten and scare a young mermaid while i was chatting with her, i told her to block him, she tried and he threaten her if she blocked him, i of course let him know what i thought and reported him and shared his mug all over fb. we need to keep our friends/family tight and take care of each other glad your one of us ;)
