That's a beautiful design, Rebecca! You might find it hard to swim in, though, having a separated fluke like that. It's the middle section of the fin, the part you've removed, that gives you the most propulsion.
But if you're after beauty rather than speed, then you don't have to worry about propulsion :) just as long as you realise it might be difficult to go very far underwater in one breath. You don't want to get to the bottom and run out of breath, and not be able to get back to the top fast enough!
I have the same foot size as you, and I was worried the competitor in my tail would be too big (even the smallest size, a medium, is meant to fit a 7.5 - 9) but I found that wearing neoprene booties really helped. You might even find that you have to wear booties to stop blisters, in which case you need a larger monofin anyway.
If you live near any other mers, you might be able to meet up and try out their monofins. Worth investigating :)
