Antipodean New Girl
Hi all,
I'm Serenity (Or Shelly...no seriously). I've been a long time mermaid on the inside but this year I've finally made the commitment to turning that out to the real world with beginning my journey to a tail of my very own. I'm finding the hardest part is deciding on which of the myriad of ideas I have in my head, will be the first tail I pursue. I'm coming to realize I'll start collecting tails like other girls collect shoes.
I'm currently saving my pennies and talking design with a good friend at Weta workshop. Though not exactly tail makers officially they've had a bit of experience with the live action peter pan movie and with the amazing production of a mermaid prosthetic for a lovely lady who had lost both her legs. So I'm hoping that with their resources and my hopes and dreams something truly spectacular will come to life !
I've already got one merbuddy in NZ living up in auckland and I'm really hoping to meet more of us in and around New Zealand.
xx

Hi and welcome to the community Serenity. :-D

Welcome to the group, Mermaidserenity :) I can't wait to see your dream come to life. It is definitely hard to pick the design for your first tail. I bounded around on fluke designs for a while *lol*. Looks like with your resources, you have a wealth of knowledge to work with.

Hi Serenity!
I know of the prosthetic Weta made, what an amazing opportunity you have to work with someone from there ... I'm excited to hear more when you get started! :-D
For years my sister lived in Roseneath in Wellington, I loved visiting her house on the hill which had an amazing view of the water and sunsets, I have great memories of Wellington.
So Hi! from me in Hamilton, and welcome to the forum, can't wait to hear more of your adventures as a mermaid <3

Thank you so much guys ^^
So far I'm leaning towards inspiration from a freshwater Angelfish. I love the look of the silver and black with the yellow tint!
But then I keep vacillating to other more mythical looking designs.
@OceanRose
Roseneath has such great views in parts! Also so close to Oriental bay! I adore swimming there. It's so clear!!
I'm stoked about how much of an interest they've taken in my project. My main man there is super keen to design me something engineered to fix buoyancy problems and with the most reality he can. I'm over the moon at having been so lucky !
