HI!!! Always wet in Denver, CO...
Hi There!!! (I have lurked for waaaayy too long. Time to swim up to the bar and say hi!)
I'm AquaStella. And yes I live in Denver, CO (originally from So Cal), but I spend lots and lots of time in the water.
I have a long history of believing I "could be" a mermaid. I learned to swim before I walked, and have amazing natural buoyancy!! The water has been my first love and I know it is "home" for me, in fact, I am a bit of a klutz on dry land. In the past I swam and played water polo competitively, and I have had amazing scuba experiences. Currently, I teach swim lessons (to littles and adults alike), and serve as a Swim Coach; I also have my Lifeguarding certification, but always prefer being in the water to being in the chair.
I adore my Mahina monofin and swim with it about three times a week, for fitness and fun. And I do use it in my swim classes to encourage the littles to "kick hard... Be a Merman/maid!" And I am about to purchase my first fabric tail and the BIG GOAL is to save up for a full silicone tail.
Things I've loved (and learned) from these boards. What an awesome community is here! So creative and eclectic! So encouraging, with a dash of snark! So passionately fun!! (It reminds me of my years working in entertainment at Disneyland, CA!!) I can't wait to learn more from all you alls.
Outside of the water world, I am a mom to a real cool little dude with Autism and a chromosonal disorder. I do copious amounts of reading, medical research and advocacy for families and individuals seeking help for services. We love watching Octonauts and Charlie and Lola, collecting Tsum Tsums, feeding giraffes, singing throughout our day...
