Who wants to see my new monofin design?

Here's the copy from my video description:

Debut swim with my HUGE new Ariel-style monofin. It's super flexible, unbreakable, with a surprising amount of propulsion and maneuverability! It may be hard to see, I should have outlined it with black...look closely, I MADE A FIN THAT MOVES LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A CARTOON!

I'm so excited about this! Another video of a smaller fin in a fabric tail to follow shortly!

I've no idea how this can give propulsion, but I'll take your word for it.

Virtually unbreakable too with that floppiness.
Will you be selling them?

If you've just shown me that floppy fin on dry land I'd never expected it giving any push at all. Amazing! And nice looking, too ;)

That's insane!!! That is so cool!

It's so flexible, it looks awesome!! Also, your feet straps instead of foot pockets look really neat, it looks like they distribute the pressure much more evenly.

I can't tell you how comfy the straps are! I'll never go back to foot pockets!

With it being so flowy, you wouldn't think I could move through the water, but you can see in the video that it moves all 190 pounds of me pretty well! From the camera until I disappear in the distance is about twenty yards.

They do look comfy! Is it hard to get them on inside a tail? I'm bad enough at just getting two straps over my feet!

I'm working on making it super easy to put on inside a tail...couple of refinements to go!

:jawdrop:HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS? I NEED to know! Please tell us! My friend and I want to make a mermaid series, and we find silicone tails the most realistic because of how we flow, but we want something breathable, so this is JUST what we need!

Wow! I mean "W.o.W.!!!" on that floppiness and still with amazing propulsion. I'm fascinated and following this thread for more highlights, details, future sales (?, fins crossed... a girl could wish.)

I'm officially convinced this would be my monofin of choice for my lotus tail design! Lunette told me I swim pretty fast, so I suppose I don't need the competitor propulsion, and I love how flowy and elegant yours is! Only if it's not too much trouble to change now! No worries, you could swap it out all the way up to the end of production of your tail. Sealing in the fin is close to the last things that are done.

Seconded. Would you ever plan on selling custom monofins?

I'm seriously considering it, but they are still in a testing phase. Some are going into tails I'm currently making, but we'll see what the near future holds!

Pearlie, i have a question and its been racking my brain! Besides the lunocette, could it be possible to design a monofin that could extend your length without loosing the propulsion? I'd figured I'd ask on this thread (and ask you) because you design such quality tails and junk. Sorry if i gunk up your thread.

The only way I think it could be done, and to keep the tail fluid-looking, would be an elaborate carbon fiber inner assembly that would use counter pressure inside the tail to transfer the undulating energy beyond the feet for any sort of increased propulsion. Otherwise, most anything beyond the ends of your feet and the first few inches of monofin is going to create drag.

And you're not gumming up my thread! :-D

The trainer monofin is almost completely straight, would it be possible to make a long rectangular monofin?
Then an extended look could be done.

It would be interesting to test, but my suspicion is that you'll lose considerable propulsion. It would look amazing, though!

:swoon:That thing moves so mesmerizingly, and is so believably fishlike, that I think I would love to have it uncovered at the end of a sparkly fabric or sequin tail. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
