I just wanted to let people know I finally got my monofin and swam in it today :) I've been sitting around for the past couple days just dying to swim and try it out but the weather has been terrible. So I was really excited and delighted that I got a chance to swim! It was so much fun. After flailing in the pool a bit because I hadn't tried the dolphin kick in forever, got the hang of it again and had a blast.
Nothing beats that first mermaid swim! That's a great feeling. Have you already picked out a tailmaker and tail design? :)
It was a great feeling! I'm actually working on a design for a fabric tail, since I can sew and looked at most of the ways to sew one. I think I'll be able to manage it. I did see a design that was posted online that I liked, though I'll fiddle with the colors and the side fins a bit.
Ooh! That's really pretty! I think you'll look amazing in it, but you probably already knew that! :)

First swims are so magical, aren't they? It's great that yours went so well! And I really like that tail design as well. The snake/dragon style belly scales are awesome, I had been wondering if anyone had ever done something like that.
They are, and honestly the dolphin kick with the monofin just feels so natural when swimming like that. I'm sure people have made a tail similar to what I'm wanting, I just think the fluke with the split is more popular design.
Your tail design is unique and fun. I hope you get a chance to make it soonish. May I ask what you were looking for in a monofin? :)
Thanks! I got my fabric ordered, and duct tape dummy made so hoping I can start on it before the end of the month. I got a finis wave.
