So I'm in the process of figuring out what I want when I place an order for my first silicone tail from Mernation.
While I want to just use the rapid the tail comes with, I'm so concerned with the reviews I've been reading about the rapid. I've read stories from other mers on this forum saying their Rapid broke after 3 uses, or they had problems with straps breaking or not staying put.
Does this change, if a monofin is inside a silicone fluke? Or should I just go with the trainer?
Personally I would defiantly go with the trainer. The main problem with the rapid is that the straps are not set in place, this isn't too bad when you're not in a tail because it is easy enough to reattach when you're out of tail, but when you have one on it's too much of a pain in the fluke. The straps do also have a habit of breaking. Not to mention the trainer is a lot stiffer, so you get a lot more power out of it. I love it as a monofin.

I've swam with both, and I AM IN LOVE WITH MY TRAINER IT IS AMAZING. It's also in my new Kariel tail although she cut it, so if mernation can cut as little as possible then awesome because it's not as wide as the rapid but man you go fast. I love my rapid as well, but never have had it in a tail, just as a practice fin. However, trainers run small, I'm an 8/9 shoe size and I use the XL and it's perfect.
