Do you?
I hope to one day. :) The aquarium gigs look like so much fun! I've worked gymnastics birthdays before and they were a blast. I'm sure working a pool birthday party as a mermaid would also be pretty great.
And the fact that there are like no other mermaids around me (that I know of) would mean little to no competition. XD
I work 3-4 times a week, plus I get income from my book, stock photos, publications, and monetisations. I also employ 4 other mermaids who are not on the forum, but they do work fairly regularly for me.
I hope to do that perhaps in France. I would be the first French merman trying to do professional stuff.
My friend Claire after three years finally became a professional mermaid almost as good as Raina. She's still studying though but she's really cool. She offered to help me becoming a professional merman along with her as soon as I get my Finfolk tail :)
I do sell my tops on the side but I also work gigs mainly in the summer and I make visits to the aquatic summer camp in my area when we teach the kids about water safety. I'm hoping that I can make gigs the main thing I do.
I think I am the first person in Belguim with a realistic tail. But I'm not planning to be a Pro mermaid, becouse of my disablet. And I'm not so good with kids either. :p But if anyone wants to hire me for any modeling or some of that; I'll do it for free couse it's to much fun! <3
I don't speak her language but I believe this mermaid was in Belgian for a while...or is? I don't know the story but she also has a beautiful MerBellas tail. Where is she from anyway? xD https://www.facebook.com/nixe.daniela
Not yet but I hope to one day. doing shows and perform at gigs, id love to direct a performance with myself and 5 other Mers in it.
I do mer modeling and waterballet.
It's a special kind of figure swimming I developed especially for tailwearers.
However, that's nothing I can do regularly, mostly because that kind of swimming requires considerable space and depth that no pool here has, thus has to be in a lake or so and lakes are only swimmable during summer.
Also, it's rarely asked for.
I had people inquiring whether we could do regular synchro swimming instead of mermaid dance.
Synchro swimming is nice, but it's not what I had in mind.
If I wanted to do children's parties and the like, I could probably get gigs regularly, simply because there's loads of children who like mermaids :p
But I'd like to do this from a different angle, so nothing regular for me, and it's very seasonal.
Busselton Mermaids is my own business that I created for all kids of any age to have a full mermaid makeover, splash about in a tail and have professional photos taken to capture the whole experience :D
i work about 3 days a week and then the rest of the time is dedicated to my hubby and kids xx
I'm planning to do something this summer. I'd like to do entertainment for kids, pool parties or smiliar. I hope this dream will come true :)
I'm also a model, so I'd love posing or taking photoshoots at sea with my tail <3
I sell many things through etsy, like hair clips, tops, and jewelry. I'm trying to get my pro mermaid side off the ground, but it's been slow, mostly because I've had to take off time to work on tail issues. I've had a handful of gigs and what not though.
I do gigs, mostly in the summer time. How much money I earn usually depends on the type of gig- Birthday party and the like, or a faire.
I would like to one day, but I'm not sure if people want to look at a 40 year old mermaid flopping on the beach with her bits hanging out!
I'm a Belgian preforming mermaid ;) Only pity that most people don't like chubby mermaids :(
I don't preform as a mermaid, I only swim as one in my free time. I don't even know how to go about doing b-day parties as I'm not really a people person. Maybe I would help someone who is a mermaid performer to get more comfortable with the idea of being one myself.
I appear as a mermaid once a month or so for my regular job...this includes meeting kids/posing for photos, doing a lecture for adults or kids, or being in a parade/festival/other special event. It varies, and since some of that is on paid time I guess I officially can say I'm a working mer :)
Plus my workplace is starting a birthday party program which will most likely have me as an add-on option, lol! I did my first birthday party last week as a favor for a friend of mine, so not a paid gig but good experience for what is soon to come.
usually Jan- Feb I'm booking parties and events every weekend or so.. March-August seems to be my busy time for mermaid parties. 3 -5 days out of the week, I'm at the rescue(depending on shifts and patients, and if anyone needs to be covered, since the flu has been going around lately. I've been doing 4 days a week until I got sick this past Saturday.) the other two days are usually my off time.
I work in the summer and sometime in the winter months as well. Once I make a lighter tail I'll be doing a lot more jobs though so I'm really looking forward to this new year!
I do birthday parties, charity events, and a little bit of modeling (but I'm farrr from a model, haha!)
My 'to do list' would be to tackle medieval fairs and maybe do an aquarium gig! :) I often feel pretty lucky to get paid to do something I love so much.
So to actually answer the question( because I'm curious who actually works too but everyone is posting about hoping to work some day, lol)
The ones who work as mermaids are:
Me (year round), Marissa (summer gigs), Fifi (mermaid makeovers), Dottie (Summer gigs), Fenica, Wavy (appearances), Lanai (close to year round), Sirena (close to year round), and Mizuko! (so far!)
I do gigs at events. Most are in summer but I've also done fall and winter events too, so it's pretty steady. Pay really depends on the event, but I have to have a day job too or I wouldn't afford my apartment.
I do gigs once or twice a week during the summer. It brings in some money, but definitely not enough to make it my only job.
lol well technically I am year around cause I have worked October into December and then some but winter months its more every few weeks or so. Lately because all of this snow its been a bit slow. my last party was this Sunday that passed. but they cancelled and are rescheduling because the birthday princess had a really bad flu (not to mention I got sick myself, everything tastes metallic). So im willing to go that extra mile lol " Nor rain, Nor Snow Nor sleet, can keep this mermaid from swimming (indoors)".
Just FYI, Hannah Mermaid is 40.
I do Aquarium gigs, charity events, photoshootings and other event appearances (year round) in different countries as often as I can manage to do it next to my main job :-)
Our company does.
I now work regularly in the nightclub Famous in Patong, Phuket, Thailand along with my mermaid in training Susanne ( who has just joined the forum YAY ) . Other than this I have been doing regular paid mermaid jobs from events, music videos, photoshoots, birthday parties and teaching mermaid courses ! :)
