Did...Did you have help doing the DTD? I've done I think...4 full DTDs and one partial and I have no idea how I would have done it without my handler....

I am incredibly impressed that you didn't end up harming yourself in some way making the DTD. I've made them for dressforms, but never tails, and always end up ripping out hair or cutting myself somehow. I may just be more accident prone than the average soul though.

Once upon a time when I decided I wanted really long hair we were making DTDs for corset forms and the person that was helping me accidentally caught my whole darn ponytail in the tape. After several painful minutes I finally made the decision to cut like three inches off my hair. Clumsy crafters unite!
Oooh I love that design! Did you base it off a koi? You are giving me serious tailmaking envy. I may have to order some spandex and give it a shot, though I don't see a silicone tail in my future.

OMG that is awful! My first DTD I followed a bad tutorial so it was tough to cut the duct tape off and we had shitty scissors so I kept getting poked. But every time since then it's been easy and fine, other then standing for a while. But we pretty much have it down to a science. And by we, I 100% mean my handler who does all the work while I just stand there xDQuote:

I won't try to share the picture here because the poor girl was topless and had her hands taped behind her. I download and save copies of some of the pictures I find when doing this search every so often, but the level of wrong that I saw in that picture kept it out of my collection. All I remember is that I did a Google image search for mermaid tails....probably "DIY mermaid tail" or something and saw it somewhere really far down the list.
