I'm a Natural Born witch. On my mother's side witchcraft has been practiced for Generations. My grandmother was a Curandera, like my mother is, and like I am now. I am not a Wiccan. That tradition comes from a different part of the world. I follow traditions of the indigenous people of Peru and Puerto Rican spiritualism from the Caribbean. That is my lineage. I am the High Priestess of my own coven and join in a couple of open public circles in the area in which I live. I live my life as a Magic Woman and take my shamanic traditions very seriously.

I’m not trying to offend and I apologize in advance. But what is Pagan/witchcraft? (I can’t google search it because of phone restrictions). And I’m very interested.

Paganism is a nature based polytheistic religion. Wicca is a duality based religion centered around the god and goddess. Witchcraft is using rituals and spells to alter the world around you

Remember this:not all pagans are witches, not all witches are wiccans, not all wiccans are pagans

I am a first degree Pagan, based off of Gardnerian/Zell Paganism. Most of my extended community are Wiccan, but its pretty inclusive to different paths to magic and divinity. I was raised Pagan, and live a magical life every day. Realizing my dream of being a mermaid slid so smoothly into my magic it's like it was always there. Maybe it was.

You mean gardnerian wiccan? Gardner wasn't pagan.

Where does different branches come from? You are raised pagan so your family must be from some where.

Mainly paganism comes from Europe, but there are many pantheons such as Egyptian, Irish, Greek, Roman, Mesopotamian, etc.

I meant what I said. Oberon and Morning Glory Zell had different ideas in a few ways, based from some of the same things. They helped create the Neo Pagan movement.

    Ditto on the confusion.

Gardner had his own ideas based on his experiences with ceremonial magick (the Rosicrucians, if I recall correctly), which is IMO an entirely different thing from post-Cunningham Wicca.

The Zells founded the Church of All Worlds (which is based heavily on Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land), and last I heard identified as Neo-Pagan rather than Wiccan.

If you are a First Degree, darksiren, does that mean you identify as Wiccan? If so, of what tradition or lineage?

The Rosicrucians are an order, not a religion in themselves. Didn't know about the Zells so I learned something new!

True, they aren't a religion per se since they are based on Freemasonry, but Gardner built a religion out of his experience with them. There is a lot of overlap between traditional ceremonial magick and what Gardner eventually came up, particularly in regards to initiation rites.

I agree, and Gardner was the one to bring Wicca, an ancient nature religion, back into the public eye.
