    Canadian silicone tail maker?!?!

Another Canadian mermaid found this has anyone heard anything? https://www.etsy.com/listing/2288611...e-mermaid-tail

Dragonskin company smooth on won't ship to Canada as their product won't cure properly in our climate. I am wondering how she guarantees a good cure...

I guess if you had a large enough work space that could be enclosed so that you could climate control the area is a possibility.....Then the weather wouldn't effect the silicone. But it probably isn't dragonskin if smooth-on won't ship there. It'd be another platinum cure silicone.

Not too bad of a tail though... I'm guessing she hasn't made many.
she believed she could, so she did

I am pretty sure that Smooth-On ships to Canada as I believe Prairie Mermaid Jamie got hers from a distributor in Calgary.

Smooth on has canadian distributers. They have for a while. From bc to ontario. Distributors will ship. Mine was shipped in october and cures just fine. Yes you need an indoor place to pour it.

Smooth on itself probably doesnt direct ship to any country it had distributors like most specialty retail. Id rather let the distributor deal with the shipping anyways!

Her name is Tracy and shes an mua in calgary. Ive seen her work around. Had no idea she made tails. Ill try to get up close and personal with these tails and check em out!

You're right. There is definitely potential. Although I'm noticing some big sizing issues..

Definitely seeing potential. Those flukes in particular look amazing, love the shape and details! Those wrinkles however will have to go... I am also very interested in the 2-3 week wait time. Is that even enough time for all the silicone in a full tail to be put together and finish curing? That time-span just seems awfully short...

It should be fine, mermaid Jessica made two stunning tails in less time than that.

For me i think its too short for being in Canada with our weather that affects silicone curing. I'm interested to see how it plays out anyway and how she improves

Raina, I adore you but you are seriously misinformed about silicone in canada. Please stop telling people it doesnt cure and we cant get it here. Youve known for months you can get it and work with it here. Why you keep telling people otherwise is beyond me. Maybe look at the link I posted. Did it occur to you that we have indoor heated workspaces so it doesnt matter if its 40 below?
Shes been almost completely turned off this forum by some of these comments and she does not deserve to sit and be upset all frickin night because some of you were snotty. This is not the way this community should be presenting itself and im sorry but the meanest comments were from you, raina.

Ive spoken with tracy and seen them both in person.
The one was made for a model who bailed. The jacked it to make it fit a different girl. They are beginner works. She will make progress and become better given the chance.

I had a nice long talk with her. Shes a real person and I know many who vouch for her. I explained the track record of unknowns and the bad things that have happened so she understand but when I was finished speaking with her I was ashamed at the way she had been treated. I dont know if she will ever join this place now.

The pink and purple one is her own tail so it never was made for the model that wore it. The octopus top was made for one size then had to be adjusted. Its on a DD bra right now. I will upload the photos I took at a later time when I had wifi.

Shes a sweet girl who deserves a chance like everyone else.

Hey hon dont worry, we are all giving her a chance. Everyone starts somewhere, even if the tail was that ill-fitting on accident, we would still give her a lot of support, I think. I can only speak for myself, but still.

Jamie these posts were from before you informed me ( not months ago- literally a day before you told me which was the first I'd ever heard check the time stamps). My info came right from smoothon . So I'm glad to hear someone else can now get silicone here which is what I said to you after you told me. There's loads of info all over the place about weather causing cure inhibition. Finfolk will tell you it was one of the big reasons why they moved. And yeah it did occur to me which is why both here and fb I suggested maybe she had a climate controlled space??

I'm kinda bothered by how defensive you are about it honestly. Nothing I said was inappropriate just the usual concerns we all voice over new tail makers. I was very excited and posted many nice things here and on fb. And I reached out to her weeks ago on fb with compliments and questions! So I'll ask you to please not take it so personally and act like I'm attacking her.

I don't think anything I said was out of the norm.

The whole reason I made this thread is because I am EXCITED that someone is taking this on in CANADA since it's so rare. I'd like to seem them succeed. Her tails remind me a lot of when Finfolk first started out- and we also posted about finfolk when they first started and they have come a LONG way. My questions/concerns shouldn't be taken as some sort of attack. If I was attacking someone it would be pretty clear honestly... I'm just wondering how she handles things in our area there's no need for anyone to get defensive. So I apologize to the artist if she somehow found my comments offensive. Weeks ago I left her many compliments all over her photos and in message and shared her page. So if she was upset with me it would have been nice to know instead of log on to this kind of a post. (IN any regard I sent her a message)

It reminded me a lot of when finfolk started remember these ones?

I see a lot of the same things between her beginnings and theirs. So when I say I think there's a lot of potential I mean it everyone starts somewhere and I think we all know that.

I've been following the threads on here and on fb about this new tailmaker and honestly I've only seen constructive criticism on how she can improve her work as well as lots of positive encouragement for her. I don't see anywhere how she was being bullied so I think it's unfair for anyone to be making that assessment. If nobody expresses concern or asks questions how is anybody going to learn. Especially when so many mers have had trouble with tailmakers, it's only natural for them to ask questions. And honestly, I hope she does well because we need this in Canada, but if she can't handle these kind of positive and constructive comments, how can she handle some of the tough clients that tailmakers get?
