I'm always very surprised that there isn't. There seems to be so many west coast mermaids, especially in the Southern California regions... Hope something pops up. Well in my experience Cons or expos either piggy back on others (typically to spit costs) until they have enough of a following to rent the space on their own.
For example: For a while Adult expo and Hemp con were done at the same time, until adult con started doing well and making profit on ticket sales. Then it started to just rent the convention space on its on, and was able to fill it with booths.
I would love to start a mer con on the west cost but it would be a lot of work and we would need a few of us to really kick start it up.... (maybe a fun project for our California pod).
Oh, thanks for explaining, that makes sense. I really like that idea. It's kinda tragic that what you're describing sounds like what was attempted with the Belmont Shores Pirate Invasion, but that didn't work out. I'm still not totally clear why. I heard there was bad blood or something, and the organizers of the pirate festival didn't like mermaids encroaching on their event, but I don't know how much truth there is to the rumor.

Yeah, I don't know the details of why the pirate thing did not work out, but I am more than willing help there be some sort of expo/con thing.
