Thread: Swim shoes as foot pockets?

    Swim shoes as foot pockets?

I'm ready to try my hand making my own monofin, and I've got a pair of swim shoes with rubber soles already on hand. I was thinking I could use marine epoxy to attach them to whatever I decide to use as the fin. I want it to have some movement- not too stiff- so I am still playing with what the blade/fluke will actually be made from.

Has anyone used swim shoes before?

I glued water shoes to my fin fun monofin, the clear one. I used Poly Zap and it didn't come off.

That's how we made my daughter's gin, pool shoes + lexan. So far it works great, though we had to add an extra piece of elastic around her ankles because the shoe elastic wasn't tight enough.

Not the best for efficient power transfer, but would likely be comfortable, unless then bent too much from the force of the flukes during use

I am also debating on canabalizing a pair of swim fins.

Isn't she a little young for that?

Got to get her started on her path of sophisticated sassiness early, right? Maybe I should try vodka instead?
(Now I'm wondering whether there are forums for homemade gin enthusiasts...)

I've heard that Finis Zoomers glued to polycarbonate with PolyZap work really well, too. I can't remember who's done it, but I remember there were favorable results!

    Mmmm...bathtub gin!
