I love corsets, and have used them in land-mermaiding. I agree about the water: don't used the steel boned ones, it wouldn't be safe. If anything, use plastic boning for look, but not for shape.

So the mesh corset hurts my ribs :/ It's got maybe a third of an inch left to close but it's only at 29 inches (it's supposed to be size 26). In addition, because there is no inner layer, the waist tape sort of digs into me :/

An undershirt now. The last few times I was just wearing a tank top under it.

One option I haven't seen mentioned is a corded corset. You can buy or make one created with a cording that's going to withstand water use. They've got the flexibility you might need. Just Google 'corded corset' and you'll see a ton of pages. Basic rubber cording could be useful, not very bouyant, and flexible enough for underwater use. I'm using some in a fluke design and it's taking me a while due to life happening, so I don't have pics, but again- search on 'rubber cord' and you'll see much.Originally Posted by MermaidDalni

So I've had my corsets for a little over a month and a half now and I've been seasoning all three. This black one is on day 10, being worn for 4 hours. The bottom has fit to me hips a little bit but the top still really flares out. Is that still normal at this stage?
ALSO, the pip of the corset is completely closed, the edges are touching and the bottom has about 2.5 inches to go however I am currently at a 30" waist with it on (only a 1 inch reduction) and it is supposed to be a 26" corset. But doing the math, if it were to close all the way that would only be 27.5" I'm not really into corsetting for the waist reduction so it's not a big deal, I just thought this was odd :/

Are you measuring on the inside of the corset? Mine has about a 2 inch offset when you measure on top.

I love corsets! I own 5 of them. Lol you aren't alone! I don't waist train, but at some point I would like to, as I find it very interesting!
