More Stolen Photos

On the heel-fins of the other thread, I have found another person taking photos from other mermaids.

Since it is on Instagram, my first thought was "Oh, they are making a fan page and just linking images/sharing them." Nope. They are saving them and adding their own watermarks onto them then posting (on some of them, not all.)

I think it was the hair that did me in. I knew it didn't look exactly like Rapidash, and I thought I had seen the image, but I shrugged and thought maybe artistic license.

It's possible that is not even a painting but just heavily photoshopped D: idk but it looks like it.

Also yeah I don't know who that Instagram was but the image they stole of mine is only on here as my signature so like...... They're here somewhere?? Or maybe just google image search but eek.

As a newb, may I ask what the policy is on borrowing images for inspiration, or drawing/painting merpeople? I'm guessing ask first and give credit, right? Anything else I should know?

I think if it is just for Instagram as long as you link back and tag the mermaid you are reposting and it has the "reposted from" box in the corner of the photo there isn't a problem.

Not sure if this would go here, but I found another account on Instagram today that has uncredited photos (some are left watermarked and some are cut out). Very few of the photos are actually credited and I recognize quite a few mers from here scrolling through it (Mermaid Crystal, Copperlocks, Cyanea, Mizuko, Mermaid Alexia, Marla, Harmony, the Perth Mermaids, and others).
