We are very excited to bring you the Expert Panel! This was a highly requested event after the surveys collected from last year.

You will have the chance to pick the brains of several experts in the mer-field. They will each give a brief introduction, and then you can ask them questions! I'll be moderating it to be sure we keep on time and that everyone who wants to ask something gets a chance. We'll also collect a few questions beforehand from people who are watching via livestream.

This event is included in your convention pass and does not cost extra. It takes place Sunday at 3:45-5:00pm at the hotel, and will be followed by our closing ceremonies in the same room.

Who are the experts? Well let's get to know them shall we?

We are excited to bring you...

Rescue Sirens Husband and wife team, Jessica Steele-Sanders and Chris Sanders. They'll be speaking about their mer-iffic book and their journey of publishing a mer-story.

Mermaid Linda Stephanie Has a long list of aquarium performing experiences. Ever wonder what it takes to get your fin in the door with an aquarium? She's going to give unique insight and tips.

Mermaid Marla Spellenberg is a retired Weeki Wachee Springs mermaid. Marla is a frequent request at many conventions for a special guest speaker, and she's excited to tell you how Weeki has evolved and her experiences there.

Merman Christian will be talking about the rise of the mermen, what it's like running his mer-business and everything that goes into the experience of men in the community.

Joseph McGarry is ready to answer your burning business questions about money. A registered accountant, Joseph has excellent tips for you to help your sand dollars go far and make your mer-biz financially stable.

And finally, Finfolk Productions we'll be speaking about their experiences as tail makers. No, they aren't going to walk you through a tutorial on how to make a tail but you can ask them your burning questions about being tail makers, running such a dynamic business, and their new tail line!

The expert panel was designed as a direct way for us to really benefit from each other's experiences. We can learn so much with an open exchange of information and enrich our own mer-experiences and businesses!

No signup needed, just your Mermania wristband!

We'd still love to have this event SPONSORED. So get in touch if you are interested.

Whoever is doing the graphic design for Mermania is doing a great job. I especially love the Mers of Color logo - it reminds me of Alphonse Mucha's art style.

Thankfully this does not affect our convention or the venues, as we have secured contracts regarding upholding the rights of trans folks and people It did not get repealed today, but the main guy behind it has been voted out, so I am very hopeful it'll still end up repealed.

Will Finfolk's Mythic tails be available to test-swim? I had another friend ask, and I don't know if they are going to be on display or to try on as well.

Im actually okay with that, because we arrive sometime noon to the airport on friday and have most of that day to meet others etc, and have all of saturday to play and meet others and saturday night after swim possibly. So I Intend to enjoy myself as much as possible, yes there will be a camera somewhere around there

Hey fish folks! We will be going LIVE tomorrow (On our fan page) at 1pmAST (UTC/GMT -4 hours) to draw the name for the free convention pass! You still have until then to enter the draw with hashtag #mermania2017 on instagram, twitter, and facebook. One post per social website per day will get you a ballot each! Not in the same time zone and not sure how to tell which one? This link shows the time zone we're using, so calculate the difference between what time it is for you, and what time it says here, and that's the time difference! We'll also be posting reminders throughout the day! https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/canada/halifax

OK folks bit of a communication issue over spectator passes that has been handled. Originally we thought the GAC would be handling those passes, but it looks like we will be. Spectator passes are intended for people who are NOT participating in the convention, but are supervising someone (like a child) or simply shopping the vendors. They are 5$/day and available at ncmermania.com please note they will not get you entrance into hotel convention functions etc. It's just really for people who are there to watch their kids, or be a safety person for a mer etc. They are only available for the GAC facility However, people who purchase their spectator pass through us will get a special sticker to identify them.

HUGE Update December 30th Stickied Post

Hello fishies we are nearing the last few weeks before our convention. Here’s all the information you need to know!

FORMS & RULES - We have standards forms and waivers we need you to sign. You do not need to print them and bring them, as we will have them on hand in person with your welcome package. If you are under the age of 18 it may be wise to download the GAC Liability form and have a parent sign it. All convention and venue rules, along with forms can be seen here if you want to preview them: http://ncmermania.com/rules-forms/

WHAT DOES MY PASS COVER? – The Convention pass covers: entrance into the GAC, Vendor area, and Divewell for the weekend. All panels at the hotel, Aqua Yoga at the GAC, Closing Ceremonies at the hotel, and after hours swims.

SPECTATOR PASSES – These are only for use at the GAC facility and do NOT cover any events at the hotel. You must have a convention pass to access the GAC Dive well, workshops, Hotel Panels, Closing Ceremonies, and After Hours Swim. Spectator passes are only intended for parents who are supervising children at the kid’s swim/story time, and people who are supervising merfolk for safety/want to shop at the vendor space. The spectator passes allow entrance to the pool deck only, and the vendor space only. They are 5$ a day and available on the website under ticketing . www.ncmermania.com

EARLY REGISTRATION- You can pick up your registration package early if you’d like. Your package will include all the forms you need to sign, special items from our vendors and sponsors, your convention pass, and more. The first 100 people to pick up their package will get a gift valued at $50 from “The Mermaid Tail Party”- one of our awesome sponsors. Early registration takes place 1 hour before the mixer outside of the mixer room, and during the mixer. Regular registration starts at 10am at the GAC

BUYING TICKETS AT THE CONVENTION- We will have limited tickets for the convention and various events available at the registration desks prior to and during the mixer, and also at the GAC. We strongly suggest you purchase tickets prior to the event, however if you need to during the event you can. We can accept exact cash, or you can still purchase online. If you purchase online you will need to show your confirmation and ID to the registration staff.

DAY PASSES- Are available both for regular convention passes, and spectator passes, on the website.

ID- Please have appropriate ID on hand. You will need your ID to pick up your welcome package, and because alcohol will be served at some events you’ll need to be able to prove you are “of age” if required.

MIXER AND CRAFT SWAP- Our Mixer is graciously sponsored by Finfolk. It is $15 and tickets are still available. There will be snacks served, and a cash bar. The Pirate DJ will also be entertaining us. Our Gold level Vendors will also be available if you wanted to pick up something early (such as a signed copy of Rescue Sirens). The craft swap is voluntary and there is no expectation of participation. It is up to you if you’d like to give away or trade a craft.

BALL- We are thankful to have Mertailor as our sponsor for the Ball. We have a limited number of full ball tickets left as we must give exact numbers to the catering. Ball only (without meal) will still be available. During the ball we will get to be entertained by both Pirate Jim the DJ/Magician, and Mermaid Glimmer with her light show. We ask that you do NOT bring any glitter or confetti to the ball as it is against the hotel policy. There WILL be black lights. The meal will be a buffet style with some vegetarian options, we apologize but the hotel cannot accommodate vegan.

FOOD AT THE GAC AND HOTEL- The GAC has made concessions available during the convention. The Hotel has several restaurants along with a Starbucks inside.

VENDORS- We have some Amazing Vendors lined up. Our Silver Tier vendors will be at the GAC only: Hayley Edward’s Mermaid Accessories, & Operation Mermaid. Our Gold tier vendors will be present at the Mixer, GAC, Ball, and Closing ceremonies: Finis, Finfolk, Mertailor, Rescue Sirens, & Fishy Business.

WORKSHOPS- We still have spaces in the Underwater posing workshop, Safety workshop, and Merwrnagling workshop. The Underwater time slots are sold out, however Mountain Mermaid Photography (Karsten) will be providing some underwater candids like they did last year.

SPONSORS- Cutoff date for Sponsors is January 3rd. Please send us a message ASAP. Sponsor info can be found here: http://ncmermania.com/sponsors/

RIDE SHARING- We have a thread setup in the group for ride sharing. The GAC is not very far from the Sheraton, and there is also Uber/Cab.

If you have questions please send them to the mermania fanpage or leave a comment, rather than email staff or message them on personal accounts. It helps us keep everything in order.
