Pain in my head and neck while diving?

So today I went to Rainbow Springs to go for a swim. Everything was going fine until I put my nose plug in. I made a few dives, nothing deep when suddenly I got this sharp pain the back of my head and neck. It only happened when I dove under. On top of the water I was fine, on land I was fine, but the second I went under it would hit me and it hurt. It felt like pressure on the back of my head and neck.

Anyone else experience this? Any clue what it could be? We are planning to swim tomorrow but I am almost scared to go.

I forget, do you have fibro? I had a similar experience often and when I saw a specialist he said it's common in people with fibro. I find occasional chiro adjustments help, and I have to be careful when wearing goggles because there's a specific nerve they can pinch that flares it. It's why you always see me with big honking diving masks instead of swim goggles.

Not sure if it is the same thing, but something similar has happened to me on occasion, usually when the tension in my trapezius muscles is really high (*lots* of knots and stiffness) or if I am having issues with my sinuses.

Be super careful while swimming and consult a doctor; I had a brief loss of vision underwater (<4ft depth) the one time because of it. I was sick with a bad sinus infection at the time (wasn't aware that it was sinus related, just thought it was a cold) - I won't make that mistake again.

    Best of luck to you!

This sounds a bit like a sinus squeeze, but usually the pain is more in the forehead and the face (teeth) than the neck.

You should check with a diving instructor and a physician.
You can hurt yourself if you dive when something is wrong.

Has anyone seen the concept art for star wars land? There's a giant tank with a space mermaid in it.
