I've been spending Valentines' day watching horror films. I love to pick a film I've never heard of before or something that's been out for a while. It's kinda cool to get into a movie without any expectations. I like the story to be a surprise and it's nice to not be burdened by all the hype.
Anyway I find myself confused as to what typically qualifies as a "good" horror film. It seems when you look something up, half of the reviews say it was full of fantastic acting and direction, the rest say it's the worst film ever made. I don't get it. Do people simply want to make themselves seem more hard core, or is it that they're comparing it to the idea of how great they thought another film was?
I don't know. Maybe there's not enough blood and guts to make some people happy.
Any thoughts?
