You can make a skin for it that just covers the foot pocket. I saw some videos of someone with this setup.
I was wondering if it might be effective to put some boning (with padding) into the fluke of the tailskin. Perhaps help the fabric keep its shape rather than depending on the monofin to do it all on its own.

We don't get mail delivery to houses here so it would have delivered at the post office. They could have mixed up my mail because it was sent to "mermaid kelly" and theres another kelly here who is a mermaid. She said she didn't receive it so i just have to trust her word...

OK I am going to do up an official review shortly, but in short I LOVE THIS THING. I was NOT expecting it to be as good as it was. I used it in the ocean and I was going fast while still having that nice floppy fluke with turns, Like wow.
I noticed a review online by Aquamermaid(?) that had some good video of her swimming underwater with it. Since it's silicone, I'm interested in building a tail around it and perhaps expanding the size of the fin. I'll bet since it's already very floppy there's a chance that encasing it in a larger silicone fin could make it swishier but with even less propulsion.
So far, I've seen 3 or 4 swims/reviews of this one. I still really want it to work for me, just because of the silicone vs latex thing. I would build a fluke up around any monofin anyway, at least a little. It IS starting to sound like it's worth a try. If nothing else, I can use it just for exercise.
The silicone in this monofin is heat cured for mass production... I wonder if tin or platinum cure would stick properly...?

Probably not, actually. Or worse, trying to adhere other silicone to it, might melt it. I honestly think, when all is said and done, that is probably going to be the major problem with this fin.
Ooo! Looks like they may have one for plus size feet!

I believe they said if the monofin was popular enough they would be producing in larger sizes and possibly later on, giving you the option to pick size AND color rather than being stuck with certain colors for certain sizes? The purple and orange you're seeing is I believe a larger size or men's size

that would be good because my size 9 feet were pretty much the max for this one. I had it out as far as it would go. It was comfortable and fine but I'd rather not have my heels stick out so far.
Okay so I've been researching monofins too and this is the one I'm stuck on. I really like it from what I've seen but I have one hangup. My shoe size ranges from 6.5-5 so, I would have to get the smaller watermelon looking one. I really don't like the color scheme.
I plan on easing myself into mermaiding so once I get a monofin I'm going to swim with only that for a while. My question is if it's important that you love how your monofin looks and if so is there a way I could paint it to fit my mermaid style?
Regarding liking how your monofin looks, I think that is something you have to answer for yourself. For me I was actually disappointed because I loved the watermelon colors but have big feet, and thought long and hard about whether I could love a monofin in a color I didn't choose. However the latex-free point of this monofin won me over because of my allergy, and it turns out the color is amazing in person. Perhaps you will like the watermelon color once you see it? And I think regardless of color, once you swim in it you will love it anyway. I personally fell in love not necessarily because of how it looks but because this is MY fin, an outward representation of my mermaid heart Almost as if I'm growing my tail from the feet up, lol. And through loving this monofin, whose colors I didn't choose, my own mermaid color wants have changed a little bit, which I never expected. I'm not saying you'll be the same, just giving my own experience
As for painting the fin, personally I have no experience with this as my painting skills are nil. Since this is a more expensive monofin, up there with the Mahina, I would say tread carefully. Sorry this was so long, haha

Thank you! No it's good information, thank you so much. I'm sure I will love it the model is the closest to what I want and I've got a few months before I plan on ordering it. So I've got some time to think. My mermaid aesthetic is more dark shades of blue so I can think of this as where I start before more I make my "transformation into my true mermaid self". or something like that. Thanks again!
I wear a size 6 shoe, so I have small feet (my Mahina is the largest child size). I have the adult Luna on the green/blue color scheme and it fit great. I wore thin neoprene socks with it as I had rubbed horrible blisters on my feet with my Mahina. You should be fine with the adult Luna.
