So many beautiful places!
Myself, I would love to re-visit The Great Barrier Reef. I had a splash amongst the reef last time, but was wearing a swim vest and glasses... And I had to watch my nephew, also in swim vest.
My aunties and uncles were laying on the benches like beached whales cos the boat ride was very bumpy.
OMG u guys these are awesome id love to swim in all of these locations I think that this just increases the idea that we Mers need our own well "Atlantis"/ Grotto for all mers to visit and swim
Jervis Bay, NSW Australia.
I've been there once. The sand is so fine and white! And when you walk on it, your feet makes squeaky noises!
Merewether Ocean Baths, Newcastle NSW
Its not a natural spot, but it is the biggest ocean baths in the Southern Hemisphere. Planning to go there before the summer is over.

Here's another one, Blue Lake at Jenolan Caves. Right here in NSW Australia!

Augh, I don't have any pictures of it, but there's this one place my dad used to take me fishing all the time when I was a kid, called Beachy Cove here in Newfoundland (Here's a Google Maps link). It's a teeny-tiny little sandy beach surrounded on three sides by a huge cliff, and in the back there's this big freshwater waterfall and a small pond/river that leads down into the ocean. It's an absolutely gorgeous spot during the summer and was my all-time favorite place to go when I was younger. I've always thought about how great a spot it would be for a mermaid to relax in! (Even though someone's after building a huge mansion on top of one of the cliffs, so it's not really a private little spot anymore, booo :c)
And then there's La Manche Provincial Park, which is right by the ocean (... well it's Newfoundland, so everything's by the ocean) where there's this one gorgeous spot along the East Coast Trail with a suspension bridge, and just in off the path near the bridge there's a big deep waterhole with a waterfall and a big rock to stretch out on... Another one of my all-time favorite spots. <3 Google Maps has some pictures of the bridge, though none of the waterhole.
Once I get my tail I'm definitely going around the island and getting some photos in a few of the little coves around here. It's no fancy tropical paradise, but this place has some beautiful spots for mermaid sightings!
A few that I did find pictures of:
Salmon Cove
Middle Cove
Topsail Beach
Gros Morne National Park (I could totally see whole pods of freshwater mers hanging out here!)
And one of my favorite spots, Manuels River, which I lived pretty much next to for a big chunk of my life and loved swimming and fossil-hunting in:
And then there's Outer Cove, Gallows Cove... A lot of coves... Thunder Falls, and so on...
... The more I think of it, the more I'm going to have to find time for some major road trips and photoshoots when I get my tail!

Here in my area we have the San Juan islands, where I really hope to do some photos this summer. The islands are especially famous for the orca pods. Many of the islands are sparsely inhabited and only accessible by boat or seaplane.
Wow, all of these places are really magical!

These are in Australia.
Blue Lake, Mount Gambier. A volcano filled with water. Its not active.
Lake MacKenzie. A lake filled with rainwater.
Around the south of Iran there's a lot of jungles like this. I always thought they'd be perfect for mermaids to hide in. I'm trying to figure a way to work it into my background story, especially since my audience is typically familiar with them (They're all over the region where Indo-Aryans inhabit, so they don't require much explanation whether I'm speaking hindi, urdu, or farsi/dari, we all know what they are, lol)

This thread makes me want to take my silicone tail to my uncle's in hawaii. Wait... I don't have my realistic tail yet. And no plans to go to hawaii either...
Somebody's pool I found on Google... Private Grotto!
Looking at something like this (or lovely swimmming ponds) is the only time I really regret not having money.
Natural places are wonderful, but not so practical for mermaiding if you don't live there (damn expensive, and in tropical or warm climates, also risky), it's too cold to swim in most of the time, currents, dangerous wildlife etc to be wary of and so on.
A naturally looking indoor (or maybe outdoor) private pool though, not too chilly, done up mermaidy looking...
